Story
My name is North, and for the last six years, the streets of Mecca have been my home. Neighbors say Ive had more than six litters of puppies. Litter after litter, I survived the heat, the streets, and motherhood the best way I knew how. DPS originally came for me and another Shepherd with one goal: get us spayed so we would never have to bring another litter into this life. The plan was to return us to the area where neighbors had been feeding us. But once they got us, they couldnt let us go back. My body tells the story of the life Ive lived. I have scars from years of surviving, but those days are finally behind me. Im estimated to be about 67 years old, and for the first time in my life, I have the chance to know what it feels like to truly belong to someone. I may be a bigger girl, but DPS believes there is a family out there who will look past my size and my scars and see me. After six years of surviving, Im ready to stop surviving and finally start living. My name is North, and Im looking for my first real home. Story
Hi Im Oreo. I have to be honest, my life didnt start out great. I spent most of my time in a crate, and my family didnt have much time for me. But then Foster Rosa stepped in and rescued me. Since then, life has been full of learning, healing, and second chances. Im learning every day how to be a dog. My foster siblings have shown me how to play, explore, and enjoy the little things. Along the way, I went through something really hard. During rough play with another dog, I lost my left eye. It was scary, painful, and a big adjustment for me. But even after everything, I keep going. Ive learned that being different doesnt make me any less deserving of love. I can still be a little grumpy sometimes, and Im figuring out all the rules of dog life. I honestly wouldnt mind being the only dog in the home where I can feel safe and relaxed, though I do enjoy watching my foster siblings from a distance. What I really want is simple a home where I can finally just be loved for who I am. It might take some patience, but I promise, I have a big heart for the right person. Could that person be you?   Please visit our website desertpawssanctuary.org to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs and cats.

Story
Hi, my name is Levi. Im a 4.6-year-old little guy weighing around 1113 pounds, and Im hoping to find a forever home where I can feel safe, loved, and understood. I may be small, but I have a big heart and an even bigger personality. Im very loving and protective of the people I care about. Ill always let you know if someone is around because I like making sure my home and family are safe. I get along with other dogs, and I really enjoy having furry friends around. Children make me nervous, so I would do best in a calm home without young kids where I can relax and feel comfortable. One of my favorite places is my kennel. Its my safe space where I can rest and feel secure. I like going outside to eat and handle my business, then Ill come back inside, play a little, and happily run back into my kennel for a nap. My kennel will come with me because its been my cozy little comfort zone. I also enjoy getting groomed every couple of months so I can stay looking handsome and feeling my best. More than anything, I just want someone who will love me for who I am. Once I trust you, Ill be your loyal little companion forever.
