Story
Juju is a very sweet 3 year old (that is an estimate from our vet). My husband found her in a vineyard near our home last fall. We tried every avenue of finding her family, but we believe she was left on purpose. She was not chipped, she is chipped now. She was not fixed, she is fixed now. She is not house trained. We have crate trained her for the past six months and it has helped, but she still pees and poops in her crate on occasion. We are going through a family emergency and also have other animals. Her high needs for training management have exceeded our abilities. Our veterinarian has her on a low dose of anxiety medication to help calm her nerves enough to drop into the "training brain" because she is so anxious. It has definitely helped, but there is a road ahead and we cannot keep going. We are looking for a loving home that can really take on her training in earnest with patience and sincere commitment.

Story
Luka is a healthy and happy 6 year old husky looking for his next adventure. He is neutered, up to date on all shots, and has been on a consistent monthly preventative plan his whole life. Luka is a true athlete who loves to walk and run, making him the perfect partner for active owners. He is a very gentle soul around humans and is consistently great with other dogs. He has a high prey drive toward cats, so a cat free home is a must for him. If you are looking for a loyal, energetic, and sweet companion who has already moved past the puppy phase, Luka would love to meet you.

**This is a courtesy post. Wes is NOT a YCSPCA dog. All adoption interest will be forwarded to his caretakers.** Meet Wes! Wes is a friendly, goofy, and energetic husky mix who's ready to find his fur-ever home! Wes is approximately 3-5 years old, and he is neutered and fully vaccinated. He loves people and will happily sit for pets and belly rubs. He loves to play enthusiastically with other dogs and adores stuffed toys, balls, and sticks. He loves to walk, and he will do a happy dance when you show him the leash. Wes came to us as a stray dog wandering the neighborhood, looking for any handouts he could get. He was very thin, covered with fleas, and needed a good brushing. To our delight, he is gaining weight, and his coat is filling out beautifully. Wes currently weighs 42lbs, and will likely fill out to be around 50-55lbs when at a healthy weight. When Wes is not playing, he is content to lie down quietly somewhere near you and make sure you give him some occasional pets. He does not show any signs of separation anxiety when we head off to work, and for the most part stays out of trouble while we're away. He has become best friends with the lab on the other side of the fence, and they both attempt to occasionally work together to have their own play dates.  Wes needs a loving home with or without other dogs. With a little training, he will be a wonderful walking companion, couch buddy, and anywhere explorer. He is very treat-motivated, and learns quickly, though he hasn't had much formal training yet. He has learned "sit" and "down" very quickly. Important things to know about Wes: - Size/weight: ~42lbs (still a little underweight) - Temperament: playful, affectionate, energetic, and goofy - Training: limited, but a quick learner and food-motivated - Housetrained, but may need time to adjust to a new, stable environment - Best in a cat-free household (prey drive/interest in cats) - Neutered and up-to-date with vaccinations Wes's ideal adopter is an active family that can provide regular exercise, consistent training, and time to settle him in.  If you are interested in Wes, please email dogs@yolospca.org. **This is a courtesy post. Wes is NOT a YCSPCA dog, and all adoption interest will be forwarded to his caretakers.**June 16, 2026, 3:10 pm

Story
We LOVE Aurora, and we know you will, too! Aurora is just over 2 years old and is a loyal, goofy, and smart girl who has won all of our hearts with her endearing personality. Aurora is the epitome of a big dog who doesn't know her size, and she loves to try to convince you that she is actually a lap dog. She is a very affectionate girl, and she forms strong bonds with her people. Whoever adopts her will always have a happy pup to greet them when they come home. Aurora weighs about 70lbs and is fully grown. Aurora was raised in foster care after she came to us as a tiny baby with her sister. The puppies came into a local shelter as strays with the rest of their litter and their mom when they were only a few weeks old. Once the puppies were weaned, we welcomed Aurora and her sister into one of our foster homes. Aurora's sister was adopted as a puppy, but Aurora has stayed with us since she has some medical needs that needed to be addressed. She is now all ready for adoption and can't wait to find her fur-ever home! Aurora is one of those dogs who light up the room with their fun energy. She is guaranteed to always know how to bring a smile to your face, either by doing something ridiculously funny or planting some kisses on your face. Despite being a husky mix, she is relatively mellow and is happy to spend most of the day chilling at home. She loves her walks, though, and is a great walker who doesn't pull and loves to check out her smells. Aurora can be unsure of new people, but is quick to warm up after taking a walk with a new person. Once she knows you're a friend, you will be her BFF for life! Aurora's foster family has spent lots of time on her training, so she has her basic training down and is a well-mannered girl around the home. Due to her size, she needs a family that has experience with large dogs. Aurora has been raised with small dogs and has done well making new dog friends after a slow introduction. She could do well living with other moderate/low-energy pups, or she would be more than happy to be your one and only. Aurora has been raised with dog-savvy cats. At times, she can be a tad annoying to them, so she would do best with confident dog-savvy cats that wouldn't be overwhelmed by her. Aurora has done well meeting livestock and chickens. She would thrive on a farm! Aurora needs an adult-only home. Aurora is house and crate trained. She is used to free roaming in the home when no one is home, but also does well in her crate for short periods during the day. She is used to sleeping in her crate or on a dog bed in the bedroom at night. Aurora needs a home with a yard and wouldn't be a good fit for apartment life. Aurora was diagnosed with liver shunts as a young puppy. Unfortunately, due to their location, surgical correction isn't an option. However, Aurora has been symptom-free since transitioning to a prescription diet, and her bloodwork shows that her condition is being properly managed with the diet change. She can ONLY eat her food and specific bland treats to avoid any GI and neurological side effects of food high in protein, fat, and sugar. Aurora is happy to eat her food and has no problem with pets and play as reinforcement for good behavior. She will require yearly bloodwork to monitor her condition. Aurora also has a minor heart condition. It requires no treatment at this time, but she will need yearly check-ups with a cardiologist to monitor it. Aurora is such an amazing girl, and we know a wonderful family is out there for her! If you think that might be you, submit an application today!   Aurora's adoption fee is $300.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website  (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org.
