Story
Hi my name is Nikita! I am a fun-loving, spunky dog, on the hunt for my new partner in crime. I love meeting new people, going for long walks, playing with enrichment toys like Kong Wobblers, and eating any snacks you`ll give me. I have a history with chasing cats, so I shouldn`t go to a home with feline friends. I can be sensitive about sharing snacks with other dogs, so I would do best in a home without other dogs as well. Do you have room in your home and heart for a gorgeous girl like me? I look forward to building our relationship together if you come in to meet me soon!Nikita has heartworm which means that this dog has parasitic worms in the right ventricle of the heart and nearby blood vessels. Heartworm is transmitted from one dog to another by mosquitoes and can be easily prevented using monthly heartworm preventative, but once the disease is contracted the treatment process can be quite intensive. Nikita will need to remain sedentary with minimal activity during the treatment process to ensure a healthy recovery. There is additional information on heartworm disease and treatment available at our Adoption Desk. The heartworm injections for treatment are covered by HSHV, but there may be additional costs associated with clinical care.

Story
Sage Cowan is clearly a shepherd mix but based on her ice blue eyes and energy, we are guessing mixed with husky. Sage is constantly smelling or moving, exploring or swimming. Yes! She loves water and finds all ponds, puddles and ditches near her foster home. Sage is attentive to people, does well on leash and does listen for commands. During her off-leash yard play - she runs and enjoys playing 'keep away' from humans. She is athletic and healthy. She likes being paired up with active male dogs who will wrestle with her. Sage has been great in public, attending socials for local rescue events - Quiet and observant, licking anyone who will come meet her. She has great manners, friendly - knows to relax on a leash and be part of the party vibe. Vaccinated, Spayed, Microchipped and on prevention - she is ready to travel for Love! Sage would benefit from an active home or large yard/farm/ranch for daily exercise. She was soaking wet and wandered into a gun shop looking for people. She was microchipped but the owners stated they did not want her anymore. She would also be treated for heartworms, though just two years old - obviously not kept on preventatives. Sage spent a few weeks in boarding due to the storm damage in our area and lack of foster homes. She did well with the routine at boarding, bouncing around her kennel until it was her turn for a walk and yard time.
