Story
If you’ve ever thought, “I wish my life came with a built-in emotional support cloud that occasionally walks around,” congratulations—you’ve found me. Hi. I’m Maximus McFloof, professional chill specialist, part-time heart-melter, and full-time believer that life is best lived at a leisurely pace.
I’m Maximus McFloof. A 9-month-old, 28-pound Pomsky masterpiece, if I do say so myself. Equal parts majestic fluff and devastating good looks. Honestly, I’m not sure how I ended up without a personal assistant and a fan club… but here we are. I did have a brief, very unfortunate chapter where I found myself in a shelter. I prefer not to dwell on it—mostly because it doesn’t make sense. I mean, who looks at this face and thinks, “nah, I’m good”? It’s baffling, really. A true mystery for the ages. But, their loss is about to be someone else’s life upgrade. Because somewhere out there is a human who’s going to fall so completely, irrationally in love with me that they’ll wonder how they ever functioned before I existed. Like… what did you even do without this level of handsomeness quietly supervising your life?
Dogs? Oh yes, I’m familiar with them—I’m actually quite popular in those circles. I’m what you’d call effortlessly social. No drama, no awkward introductions, no “I need 45 minutes and a personality assessment before I decide if I like you.” I simply walk in, exist beautifully, and other dogs naturally gravitate toward me. It’s a gift. I’m confident without being obnoxious about it, relaxed, and just genuinely enjoy the company. Whether it’s hanging out, coexisting peacefully, or casually reminding everyone that I’m the most handsome one in the room—I’m your guy. Honestly, I would prefer a home with other dogs. Cats? Ah yes, the tiny house panthers with opinions. I gave the resident cat a polite, professional sniff—just a quick “hello, I acknowledge your existence”—and then promptly moved on with my life. Children? Well, let’s just say I have standards. I haven’t spent time with the tiny, unpredictable variety yet—you know, the ones powered by snacks and questionable decisions—but I have met the more refined, civilized type. Specifically, a calm, respectful 13-year-old who clearly understands the assignment: be gentle, be chill, and appreciate my presence without overwhelming me. Naturally, I approved. I’m not saying I’m against kids… I’m just saying I prefer the ones who come with manners, emotional regulation, and a solid understanding that I am not a jungle gym. Give me a respectful, easygoing human who lets me warm up at my own pace, and we’ll get along just fine.
Energy level? I’m a solid 3 out of 10—which, in my professional opinion, is the elite tier of existence. Not boring… just highly refined. I’m not here to run marathons or audition for a parkour competition. I’m here to bring calm, steady, “wow my life is better with this dog in it” energy. Car rides? I do require a little assistance getting in—what can I say, I like to be treated like the royalty I am. But once I’m in? Absolute gentleman. As for lifestyle, I like a nice balance. I can absolutely join you for walks or the occasional low-key adventure, but let’s not get carried away—I’m not trying to run a few miles before the sun is even fully awake. At heart, I’m more of a distinguished homebody. Give me a comfortable spot, my people nearby, and a peaceful environment, and I will thrive. Overall temperament? I would describe myself as… effortlessly delightful. I’m calm, gentle, and easy-going—the kind of dog who doesn’t feel the need to announce his presence every five minutes. I simply exist, and the room improves. You’re welcome. With other dogs, I’m confident, relaxed, and fully prepared to be part of the pack. No insecurities, no nonsense—just good vibes and excellent social skills. With humans, I take a more thoughtful approach. I don’t just hand out my affection like free samples at the grocery store. I warm up at my own pace, because clearly I have standards.
Living situation? Ideally, I would prefer a securely fenced yard where I can lounge, observe, and casually exist alongside another dog—my chosen circle, if you will. Could I technically do leash walks in a no-fence situation? Sure. But let’s not ignore the fact that I have a strong appreciation for convenience and curated outdoor time. The important things? I am potty trained (because I am a gentleman), I do beautifully in a kennel, and I don’t chew your belongings, redecorate your home, or engage in any of those “puppy shenanigans” you hear about. Barking? I haven’t made a single sound since arriving. That’s right—not one. I know, it’s shocking. A dog who doesn’t narrate his entire existence. Now, let’s address the only slightly important detail: I can be a bit shy at first. I like to take my time getting to know people. I’m not going to throw myself at you like we’ve been best friends since kindergarten. But if you’re patient, respectful, and give me the space to settle in, you’ll start to see me come out of my shell—and it’s worth the wait. Great things take time. And I, obviously, am a great thing.
So here’s the deal.
If you’ve made it this far and are still pretending you’re not already in love with me, I admire your commitment to denial. Truly. But let’s be realistic—calm, handsome, low-maintenance, excellent with other dogs, respectful of cats, quiet, trustworthy, and emotionally stable? That’s not a dog, that’s a lifestyle upgrade. If you would like the honor of being considered for my inner circle, you’ll need to fill out an adoption application. Yes, paperwork. I know, devastating. But how else are we supposed to properly screen my future staff—I mean, family? Once you apply, the nice rescue people will send your information over to my foster so they can decide if you’re worthy of my presence. No pressure.
Oh—and you’ll need to pick me up in Skiatook, OK. I will not be teleporting to you, despite clearly being magical.
