Story
Benji is an estimated 7-year-old, 13-pound tri-color Pomeranian with a beautiful mix of blue, brown, and white fur and one of the sweetest personalities you'll ever meet. He's a gentle, affectionate boy who loves everyone and would happily spend his entire day cuddled up beside his favorite person.
Benji's story is a little heartbreaking. He was dropped off at his previous owner's grandparents' house, but they were unable to care for him and left him living outside. His previous owner didn't want him back, and thankfully, a family member recognized that the Texas heat was no place for Benji and reached out to rescue for help. Despite everything, Benji hasn't lost an ounce of his love for people.
He is incredibly sweet, friendly, and easy to have around. Benji gets along wonderfully with other dogs, pays little attention to cats, and follows his foster mom everywhere she goes. He loves belly rubs, enjoys going for walks, and is happiest when he's curled up next to someone who loves him. One of his cutest little habits is sleeping with his tongue sticking out, which makes him even more impossible to resist.
Benji has excellent house manners and does very well going outside to potty. He also knows how to use a doggie door, rides nicely in a crate in the car, and rarely barks. His quiet, easygoing personality would make him a great fit for an apartment or a house. At night, he sleeps in his own dog bed right beside his foster mom, although he'd be more than happy to share your bed if invited.
The one thing Benji struggles with is thunderstorms. After spending so much time living outside, it's understandable that bad weather makes him nervous. He would love a family who can offer him a safe, comfortable place to settle when storms roll through.
When Benji came into rescue, he tested positive for heartworms. He has since completed treatment and is doing well. He has also been fully vetted, including a full exam, neuter, vaccinations, microchip, and is current on monthly heartworm and flea prevention.
Benji really is one of those dogs who makes you wonder how anyone could have given him up. He's loving, gentle, well-mannered, and asks for so little in return. After everything he's been through, he deserves a family who will never leave him outside wondering when someone is coming back for him.
