Story
Gretta came to us from Yuma and is believed to be 4-5 years old is around 12 lbs. She had a blind/damaged right eye removed by the shelter and is mostly blind in the left - perhaps sees some light and vague shapes. Gretta is a bit of a persnickety eater until she gets into a routine. She did gain about 1.5 lbs in foster care but could likely still gain another pound. The foster was soaking kibble in broth and putting treats on top which has worked Despite her vision issues she is amazing on a leash and can go a mile a day now. She loves her walks so will need a home willing and able to continue to provide them. She just needs someone who will keep her safe from running into things. She’s been very friendly to everyone she’s met. Had really bonded to original foster and is extremely. She will even stay on the bed or the sofa with a “stay” command. She has begun to play with stuffies. Is hesitant about squeakers. Loves to play with your hand, especially if it’s under a blanket. She has an adorable “aggressive squirrel” hop at you when playing on the floor. Gretta absolutely loves to cuddle. Sleeps all night very quietly in bed. Does not necessarily like to be alone but she can be crated when needed for short periods. She will initially whine but settles down. She has very good hearing. Household noises have not bothered her. She does not startle easily however, the sound of other dogs or people at the front door will cause her to bark short warnings. Also, can smell a dog from an amazing distance and gets super excited – pulling on the harness and running crazy When encountering other dogs on leash, she was initially on guard and would even growl. Understandable - being blind and tiny. Now she pulls to go meet them, sniffs and has no fear or aggression. I took her to a friend’s house; we did a pack walk and then she was fine with them in the yard with slow introductions and non-in-your-face dogs, she will do well. No testing with cats. Gretta’s been great with young however she is more at risk of being hurt or be a trip hazard with the blindness and fast active kids. She is such a great little girl. Will be a great companion for a person that is home quite a bit or can take her to work and will also walk her apply here >>> https://form.jotform.com/cherishedtails/dog-application

Story
Milo came to us about 10 days ago from Yuma. He had a pretty severe case of kennel cough when he arrived but is doing much better and we expect that he will be adoption ready by 1/17/26. Milo is estimated at 6 years old and is currently around 18#. He is a sweet, polite and loving boy. Milo is mostly housebroken though he has done some marking in his foster home (we are expecting that neuter will help!!) and he is pretty cooperative with belly bands for now. He adores his "little person" (7 year old child) and is nice with the other dog in home. He walks nicely on leash, does very well in a crate, is not vocal or demanding and is just an all around easy going boy. If you would like to welcome Milo into your family please submit the application here >>> https://form.jotform.com/cherishedtails/dog-application

Story
Smokey is extremely cuddly and wants nothing more than to lay in your lap while you watch TV. He has lots of energy and loves to be outside. He loves toys but doesn`t play fetch unless he`s in the right mood for it. He knows basic commands but will need more leash training. Smokey has perfect eyeliner on and a cute short snout. He is a sweet, loving, loyal, energetic little baby and is looking for his forever home.

Story
Foster Notes:From out of the wild west comes Rango, a living legend (in his own mind). Rango is a pug mix that doesn`t look like a pug but has a pug`s personality. He doesn`t have a smushed face like a pug, so he won`t have some of the issues full pugs have with their sinuses in their later years. He is between 1 1/2 to 2 years old and was picked up as a stray. He is full grown at 20 lbs and friends with everyone, whether they like it or not. Brindle colored and super playful, Rango seems to be mostly house trained, non-destructive, eats well, smart, healthy and will do great in any household willing to give him the love and attention he so richly deserves. A playful doggie playmate in his weight range would be very desirable. I think he is mixed with some Rottweiler, given the shape of his face and his love for others. The family that adopts him will count themselves as being very lucky, as Rango is an awesome little guy.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Say hi to Ruth! Ruth is said to be a Pug/Beagle Mix.  Ruth is a very  busy gal and she can jump high for her age, but her long legs may be helping..  Ruth loves attention and will hold still for a bit in a lap, before she is off again exploring and wrestling with her siblings. Ruth is still  a young puppy and  needs guidance in learning puppy basics, like potty training, what not to chew and overall  manners that a young puppy must learn.  She loves to chew on hard toys and loves toys that crinkle. She  loves to rearrange her blankets to her liking. Ruth's adoption fee of $285.00 includes  her current age appropriate vaccines (adopter is responsible for remaining vaccines), deworming, and her microchip.  She is already spay and ready to go.
