Story
Meet Buster Rhymes, a 6-year-old Puggle whose journey is nothing short of remarkable. When Buster first arrived in rescue, he weighed a staggering 34 pounds—far more than his little body was meant to carry. Years of excess weight had taken a toll on him, making even simple activities difficult. Walking was a challenge, and his skin folds required constant care. Despite everything, Buster never lost his sweet spirit. Thanks to the unwavering love, dedication, and patience of his foster mom, Buster's life has been completely transformed. Through carefully measured meals, exercise, medical care, and endless encouragement, he has shed much of the weight that once held him back. Today, he's only a few pounds away from reaching his goal weight and is enjoying life in ways he never could before. Buster will need a daily thyroid pill for the rest of his life, as well as antifungal cream applied to the skin creases left behind from when he was so overweight. These simple routines help keep him healthy, comfortable, and thriving. What truly makes Buster special is his personality. He's a lovable, sweet-natured boy who adores people and enjoys being part of the family. After everything he's endured, he greets each day with happiness, gratitude, and a wagging tail. His resilience is inspiring, and his capacity for love is endless. Buster has worked so hard for his second chance. Now he's searching for a forever home where he can continue his journey, be cherished for the amazing dog he is, and spend the rest of his life surrounded by love. Could you be the happy ending Buster Rhymes has been waiting for? PLEASE NOTE: All your current pets must be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention to adopt from Polka Dogz. We only adopt in Florida. All adoption fees go to help all the dogs in the rescue, some of which require extensive medical care. Thank you for caring for the greater good. Adoption fee is $300 and you can adopt me at www.polkadogz.org. ##2760362##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Doug Chug: A Playful Little Shadow Looking for His Forever Home Doug is a charming one-year-old Chug—a Chihuahua and Pug mix—with a compact 17-pound frame, expressive eyes, and the kind of lovable face that is hard to resist. This little guy has a big personality. Doug is confident, inquisitive, and people-oriented, with a loyal heart. He loves being near people, following along with daily activities, and soaking up affection whenever he can. Simply put, Doug is a true lover boy. And when he sees a child, his excitement is enjoyable to watch as he attaches himself to him/her. The foster family jokes he is happy he can be with someone “his own size”. Playtime is one of Doug’s favorite things. He loves toys enthusiastically and is always ready for fun—sometimes bouncing from one toy to the next because everything looks exciting. He also likes playing fetch and would thrive with someone who can give him short walks, interactive toys, and positive outlets for his playful spirit. Doug’s days are filled with his own routines and playful antics. Among his favorite things: Dog Beds, Laps and Feet: When Doug sees a dog bed at the foster house (there are numerous) or a sofa he decides to crawl in it claiming it as “his place” He adores curling up on laps or nestling at someone's feet, often expressing his affection with gentle lick on the leg. Shadowing His Humans: Doug is never happier than when he’s trailing his people from room to room, always eager to be close and part of their world. And he gets so excited when attention is given to him. Toys and Chews: Anything that squeaks or rolls instantly captures Doug ‘s attention. He’ll spend long stretches chewing on plush animals, especially the ones bigger than him. Chewing toys of rubber bones or elk bones because are a necessity with Doug’s love of chewing. When he decides he is done playing he takes a short nap in the nearest dog bed then right back to playing. (Note – if he cannot find a chew toy, he may choose something on the ground instead so adopter will need to keep an eye on that.) Outdoor Explorations: Doug is enchanted by the great outdoors. Even a quick stroll in the backyard becomes an expedition he sniffs every blade of grass and watches birds with wide-eyed fascination. Occasionally, he’ll try to befriend a bug (but will stop when foster mom says “no”). Curiosity and Socialization: Doug ‘s inquisitive spirit and eagerness to meet new friends, both human and canine, has him on the go. He greets every encounter with a wagging tail and kisses if possible. As lively as he is during play, Doug cherishes moments of stillness. He’s happiest when nestled beside someone he trusts. Doug is very smart. He knows “no” and “sit,” and he listens well with gentle guidance. He may whine when placed in a kennel, but he settles when told “stop” or “quiet”. He would be fine living as an only dog or with other dogs – he has a happy go-lucky attitude.   Doug is potty trained and enjoys going potties outside sniffing and running around the yar (zoomies) when possible. Doug jumps when he hears a loud noise, but he recovers quickly. He would be a great match for a family, couple, or individual looking for a devoted small dog who wants to be part of everyday life. If you are hoping for a playful best friend, a couch snuggler, and a loyal little shadow, Doug Chug may be the rescue dog you have been waiting for. Doug was found as a stray in a park with his mother and his sister. The finder contacted 4 Lucky Dogs Rescue to help him find a permanent home. The average lifespan for this breed of dog is 15 years; therefore, Doug’s adopter will need to be prepared to keep him for around 14 more years so he will not have to move to a different home again. Doug’s adoption fee is $620. This dog comes microchipped, neutered, up to date on all necessary vaccines/rabies shots, dewormed, and heartworm tested being negative. He is currently being fostered in the Plant City/Tampa Florida area. ----------------- ***We are a foster-based rescue with no shelter or facility to view our dogs, and our address is a mailing address only. Please be patient as we are an all-volunteer rescue team, and our rescue dogs are in various loving foster homes throughout West-Central Florida. As a general rule we try to limit our adoptions to within the state of FL. If interested in one of our dogs, please fill out an application at www.4luckydogs.org, and we will contact you by phone/text if we feel your application is the best fit out of the ones received.*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 9, 2026, 5:17 pm
