Story
Meet Sage 🎋This sweet, lovable face that you see here is Sage. She is believed to be a pug/beagle mix (aka: a puggle) and is estimated to be about 2 years old. We do not know much about her previous history, as she was brought in as a stray that was never reclaimed. She was found out running with another dog, and so far, she has done very well with most other dog companions she has met - she seems to prefer dogs that are a bit bigger than herself. Humans? She absolutely thrives on attention from every human in the vicinity. She’s got the friendly, loyal temperament of a beagle along with the cute, wrinkly face of a pug. Now, don’t let the pug part of her fool you. Sage is still a younger gal with the energy of a beagle to boot. She loves having room to run around and lots of toys and enrichment toys to play with. She’s got the beagle nose that works 24/7 and needs to sniff out every small detail. We are unsure if she is potty or house trained, but she is a very smart girl and would likely pick up on it if not. She walks nicely on a leash. She will need some work and patience on crate training, when she is left in a crate she tends to make sure her woes are heard. She certainly bays like a beagle does, that’s for sure! Aside from when she is crated, she isn’t that much of a barker from what we have noticed. She tends to keep her kennel relatively clean and isn’t too much of a toy destroyer. She may be higher energy, but she’s still a well-mannered girl. Sage is ready to find herself a family that she can call her own, and she isn’t too picky with who or where, so long as she is getting the love and enrichment that she deserves. 🐾

Story
Daisy (formerly known as Layla) is a super cute poodle/puggle mix. She has wiry looking fur, but it’s very soft. She is super sweet and snuggly when she is tired, but when she is ready to go, watch out! ;) She is still very much a puppy and needs work on manners lol. She’s also still working on house training. She is very active, happy, and enjoys jumping around and wrestling. That’s why she was brought to us, because she was just too active for the older people who had taken her in. She will need a lot of exercise and redirection - she loves to play with toys, but she also will play with anything else on the floor. She needs a home with no or older children that are able to help teach her not to jump and nip. The preschooler she is currently fostered with is just too small. She responds well to correction, but she’s got the short attention span of a puppy so she often goes right back to what she was doing. If she gets lots of time outside running and playing, she is the sweetest most snuggly girl ever. She likes to play with cats, but they don’t always like her method of play. She would do really well with a playful dog. That is a little bigger than her that won’t let her completely get away with murder, but will tolerate some of her antics. That would also get rid of some of her energy if she had a canine playmate. If you are interested in adopting this pet, please go to www.midwestpetrefuge.com/adopt to complete an application. Story
Hello! You can call me Chapo! I LOVE love LOVE my people and enjoy being the center of attention! I haven`t met a person I didn`t immediately fall in love with! I also love playing with toys, and that`s when my goofy side really shines through! With my low center of gravity, I am excellent at tug-of-war.I would probably do best as an only dog in the home, but I do much better with small dogs. If you do have small dogs in the home, be sure to bring them with you to meet me!

Meet Gizmo! Don’t let that face fool you. Gizmo may look like he just received some very upsetting news, but this 6-month-old Bulldog mix is actually one of the happiest, wiggliest little guys you’ll ever meet! Gizmo has perfected the art of looking absolutely heartbroken while simultaneously wagging his entire body, bouncing around, and having the time of his life. Seriously, his face says, “Nobody has ever loved me.” His personality says, “OMG HI HI HI LET’S PLAY!!!” At just 6 months old, Gizmo is a fun-loving puppy who is ready to experience everything life has to offer. He’s goofy, affectionate, playful, and full of that adorable puppy energy that makes you laugh even when you’re trying not to.
