Mabel came into our care after being rescued from a puppy mill, where she spent her entire life confined to a loft inside a barn. Sadly, she never had the opportunity to experience the everyday joys of being a family dog. Despite her difficult past, Mabel has made incredible progress and continues to blossom with love, patience, and understanding. Mabel is a special girl who will need a home willing to help her navigate the world at her own pace. She struggles with anxiety due to her past experiences and is currently on medication to help her feel more comfortable and secure. She will need a family who understands that building trust and confidence takes time. What Mabel is looking for: A calm, patient, and understanding home where someone is around most of the time, as she struggles with separation anxiety. A confident, easygoing canine companion to help show her the ropes. A home without children under 16, as busy, active environments can be overwhelming for her. A family committed to continuing her confidence-building journey with plenty of love, patience, and consistency. A few things to love about Mabel: Gets along well with cats. Submissive and generally comfortable around other dogs. Wonderful in the car. Rarely barks. Has made great progress following surgery for a luxating patella in her left rear leg. Mabel has already overcome so much, and we know there is a special person or family out there who will see just how precious she is. She may not be the dog who runs into your arms right away, but earning her trust and watching her discover the joys of being loved will be an incredibly rewarding experience. She doesn't need a perfect home. She needs a patient one. A home where she can finally feel safe, loved, and cherished for the rest of her life.
