Rocky is pretty solid, like a rock, and weighs in at around 15 pounds. Rocky was rescued from a puppy mill and would benefit from a calm and quiet home. He started out very shy and nervous, startled by loud noises and fast movements, but with time, patience and calm, his confidence has been building up and his goofy and loving personality shines through more each day. He is the perfect, loving, easy going little dog! He will keep you company everywhere you go, as every Pugs duties call for. He loves playing with toys and going through the toy basket. He plays very well on his own but also started playing fetch...even though we are still working on the letting the toy go part when bringing it back. Rocky still has a funny, clumsy puppy side coming in waves and gets the zoomies in the backyard. He is a fast little Pug once he gets going. He is able to go up the stairs to the bedrooms but still would rather be carried on the way down though, but he can navigate small staircases up and down with ease. He just needs to build a little more confidence on those tall ones! Rocky loves his naps and snuggling up on the sofa when he is not in his carrier. He will be quietly keeping you company, sleeping by your side or chewing on a toy. Watch out for your socks though! His Pug radar will find them and they will become the next chew toy. Rocky is not fussy about food, eating his dry kibbles without problem, as if he hadnt eaten in 5 days. He is the typical food and treat-oriented Pug. He will also be your little kitchen assistant, ready to help in case you drop something. He is fully house-trained and has never had an accident nor did he ever do any marking in the house. He is being taken out about every 4h throughout the day and knows he will get a little treat after. Rocky also goes on a couple of walks a day, morning and night, when the temperature permits. Being a Pug, he does not enjoy extreme heat so thankfully he isnt demanding of exercise, hes happy to wait until the temperatures ease up when the sun goes down. Rockys crate and his carrier are his safe places and he is very comfortable in both of them. At night, he has a crate set up in the bedroom with a comfy cushion and goes straight to it at bedtime. He is quiet all night, other than the odd snorts and snores when he is dreaming away. During the day, he has a carrier in the main living room where he goes in and out to nap while I work. If I leave the house, he is in there too and is fine with the door closed. He might whimper at bit once in a while but it never lasts long. He has been left alone in the carrier for about 6h without problem. He is not usually home alone for longer than a few hours. He would be good in any house settings though as he rarely barks. His active time is usually in the morning after breakfast and then late afternoon as he usually sleeps most of the day. He will have dinner and then start playing with his toys and we finish the day with a short evening walk. He is usually pretty quiet and start snoozing after this. Outside, a fenced yard would be great. He loves to sniff around, play fetch and get his legs stretched out with some zoomies. If you are outside, once you become his trusted person, he will be right by you but at the beginning though, he had a leash on to make sure he got used to coming in and out of the house. Treats definitely help go over the transition of a new place and have him understand you and the house are actually safe. He will chase bunnies and birds if he spots them but will stop when called. Rocky has now also learned to go on leashed walks. He is still a bit nervous around loud spots and people but he is getting more confident by the day. He now sniffs around along the way and does his business. And take him to a trail in the woods and you see a sparkle in his eyes start to shine. He loves the sights, smells and peace found walking in nature, and he would love for his future family to be the kinds of people to hit a trail with him at least once a week, but the more the better! He will need a quiet home environment, like a rural home, small town, or quiet subdivision. He will be easily overwhelmed by a busy road or inner city living. He also would like his area to be relatively free of zooming by kids on bikes, scooters, skateboards etc. He needs a calm outside environment to be able to build his confidence and not be startled constantly while out on walks. Rocky would definitely benefit from a training course to continue building his confidence and trust. He is very food motivated so that will help. He is also great during car rides in his carrier. He is completely quiet. Rocky was around my other foster dog for several weeks and did great. He learned quickly the cues to give her space and was very gentle with her. He has been really good with other dogs in general and seems to enjoy their company. He has not been around any cats but we expect that he will be fine. He would definitely be more comfortable in a quiet adult only home but could manage around quiet older children (12 and over). His home needs to be calm and quiet without a lot of people coming and going and few regular visitors. Rocky has been neutered and is up to date on all his vaccines. Grooming wise, he is a Pug so he does leave his Pug hair glitters around. This is easily managed with a Swiffer or vacuum and kept under control with regular brushing. He is slowly getting used to the brush. He gets his wrinkles cleaned up every day and is fine with it. And he was also very good while getting his nails cut. As long as treats are involved, everything is possible. With patience and time to build trust and confidence, Rocky will become your absolute best little buddy, adventure companion and make you laugh with his goofy personality. Looking for a little dog with a big personality? Allow us to introduce Hufflepuff, a 5-year-old Beagle x Pug mix who's equal parts comedian, adventurer, and professional toy enthusiast! Hufflepuff came to the shelter as a stray, and sadly, no one came to claim him. Now he's on the hunt for something much better: a forever family to call his own. Like many great heroes, Hufflepuff takes a chapter or two to warm up to new people. He can be a little unsure at first, especially if someone reaches too quickly toward his collar, but give him a little patience (and maybe toss a toy his way), and you'll quickly discover the goofy, affectionate little guy hiding underneath. Once he's comfortable? Game on! This energetic fellow is always ready for his next adventure, whether that's exploring every inch of the neighborhood on a sniffari, engaging in an epic game of tug-of-war, or proudly showing off his impressive toy collection. If there's a squeaky toy nearby, chances are Hufflepuff has already claimed it. Being part Beagle means his nose has its own agenda. Walks are less about getting from Point A to Point B and more about reading the neighborhood "sniffspaper." He does pull on leash and occasionally slams on the brakes when he catches an especially fascinating scent, so his future family should be prepared for plenty of investigative pit stops! When out and about, Hufflepuff's opinions on other dogs can vary. Some canine passersby earn little more than a glance, while others seem to inspire a much more enthusiastic response. Continued positive reinforcement training and consistent handling will help him build better leash manners and learn to stay focused on his person, even when exciting distractions appear. Hufflepuff also has a tendency to become a little too excited at times and may display mounting behaviour. While it can look embarrassing, this behaviour isn't necessarily about dominance — it's often a response to excitement, overstimulation, or uncertainty, and is simply one way some dogs cope with big feelings. This behaviour may decrease after he's neutered, but his future family should be prepared to manage it with calm, consistent redirection, routine, and clear boundaries. Hufflepuff will thrive with confident owners who can provide structure and help him make good choices. Hufflepuff already knows "sit" and would love to continue learning through positive reinforcement training. He's a clever boy who would enjoy puzzle feeders, food toys, scent games, and other enrichment activities to keep both his brain and nose busy. An active home that enjoys walks, playtime, and adventures—and is committed to continuing his training—would be right up his alley. He has met a friendly female dog at the shelter and did well, so he may enjoy having a canine companion, pending a successful meet-and-greet with an appropriate match.
