I adopted Moose from a New Orleans rescue after dreaming of a French bulldog for over a year. I love him dearly, but after 1.5 years his behavioral challenges have become too much for me to manage. He reacts aggressively to visitors, barking nonstop and trying to get at them, and has unfortunately bitten several people, including my daughter. I’ve tried isolating him and adjusting my own behavior, but nothing has helped. We can’t even go to the vet because he won’t allow handling. I rarely have company now, but it’s also hard to leave him at home. Moose is sweet and loving (to me) in so many ways, and this decision is heartbreaking to me. However, it is clear I cannot provide the safe, structured environment he needs. My hope is to find a home better suited to him, where he can thrive.

Meet Marty (a.k.a. Certified Chunk) Marty is a 10-year-old senior beagle who is morbidly obese and absolutely unapologetic about it. This lovable loaf is round, slow-moving, and powered almost entirely by treats and affection. If you have snacks, Marty is your best friend. If you have pets? Also his best friend. Honestly, Marty thinks everyone is his best friend.Despite his impressive chunk status, Marty is incredibly gentle and tolerant. He’s happy to be pet anywhere—even while actively eating a treat. He strolls rather than walks (at his own senior pace), and would do best in a home ready to help him slim down safely with some light activity and a vet-approved diet.Marty has done well with kids, offering calm sniffs and zero drama. He hasn’t been tested with cats, but his vibe is very much “too chill to care.” He was previously an indoor/outdoor dog and used a doggy door to access the yard. As for toys? He enjoys gently licking squeaky toys and listening to them, though actually playing remains a mystery to him.His former family wants everyone to know he was deeply loved—and it shows. If you’re looking for a sweet, silly senior who waddles instead of runs and will happily supervise your snacks while receiving endless pets, Marty is your guy.
