Story
5-year-old spayed female Chihuahua, 5 lbs, house-trained, crate-trained, sweet with adults but needs to be approached with caution the first few times, no toddlers. She loves being a lap dog, and she was perfect with my toddler for a long time, but recently her behavior has escalated. She is resource guarding comfy spots only from my toddler, and we’ve attempted to train her out of it, but she went from just growling to attempting to bite. Shoko is not food aggressive with anyone in the house, doesn’t really play with toys for more than a second, and she loves going on walks but definitely prefers to avoid other dogs. She, in the past has LOVED cats and another small dog she was used to, but all situations should be approached cautiously.

Story
Penelope is a very sweet, loyal girl. She is affectionate without being clingy (no licking!), playful, and loves being near her people. She does great with adults and older kids who can respect her space and read her body language. She is gentle around food, no guarding. She is smart, eager to learn, and already knows basic commands. She is very trainable and has been improving steadily with leash skills and impulse control. She can break away quickly from distractions and wants to do well. Because of her size and strength she needs a confident adult handler on walks. She is reactive to other dogs and will pull toward dogs and other animals, continued training and a low-dog or dog-free environment would be ideal. She can be nervous around tall men but warms up with patience and treats! She sometimes cowers if she thinks she's in trouble. She would thrive in a home that appreciates a big-hearted dog and can offer consistency, calm leadership, and continued training.
