Say hello to Dougie (pronounced “Doogie”) , a 3-year-old Boxer/Pug mix who’s as cute as his name! This little guy’s past wasn’t easy—he came to us as an owner surrender after living almost entirely in a crate where he ate, slept, and even pottied. But those days are long gone, and Dougie is finally getting to be a dog! Now, he’s a happy, playful boy who loves his toys—especially balls! He’ll proudly carry one everywhere he goes and can entertain himself for hours. Dougie has a confident, sometimes dominant personality, so he does best with more easygoing dogs. His current best friend is an energetic but submissive female about his size that likes to hang with him but does her own thing like he does! Dougie is also a proud graduate of our STAR Inmate Training Program, where he learned his basic obedience and showed just how smart and eager to please he really is. When Monkey came into the shelter with his brother at just three months old, he could barely walk. Even in pain, this brave boy would pull himself up to check on his brother — a true sign of his gentle, loving spirit. Monkey was diagnosed with a joint inflammation disease, but with proper care, he’s now healthy, happy, and pain-free! At only about 25 pounds, he’s the perfect size for cuddles and car rides alike. He’s sweet, friendly, eager to please, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. Monkey’s kind heart and resilient spirit shine through in everything he does.
