Story
CURRENTLY IN VANCOUVER!!! Charlie   Age: 3 years Sex: Neutered male Breed: Mix Color: Brown Weight: 8.05 kg Height: 32 cm     Rescue Story   Charlie was rescued from an extremely traumatic situation. After an elderly owner passed away, the home was found with deceased cats, one surviving cat, and Charlie — who had been left confined in the bathroom with a wire muzzle tied around his mouth.   After the scene was cleared by authorities and the landlord, Charlie was placed in temporary care and then transferred to a municipal shelter. Despite what he went through, Charlie has remained affectionate, intelligent, and deeply people-oriented.     ‍‍ With People   Charlie loves people and seeks connection.   • Approaches both familiar and new people with friendly body rubs • May be slightly shy at first, but warms up quickly with treats • Allows handling and enjoys being held when supported under the belly • Often shows his belly once comfortable — sometimes even to new people • Generally more comfortable with women • Can be fearful of some men and needs patient, calm introductions     With Other Dogs   Charlie is social and playful with other dogs.   • Greets both familiar and unfamiliar dogs and invites them to play • Friendly with dogs both larger and similar in size • If another dog challenges him, he may respond — so careful introductions are important   Cats & Prey Drive   • Has lived in a multi-cat household for about 5 months • On walks, he may stare at cats but will follow his handler • Shows prey drive toward birds   Energy & Activity   Charlie has medium to high energy and has athletic ability.   • Loves outdoor activity and play • Settles well after proper exercise • Needs daily physical and mental stimulation   He has even kept up with Border Collies and Malinois for hours of play — he is small but mighty.     On Walks   • Walks well on leash without pulling • Loves to sniff and may stop often to explore     At Home   • Uses both pee pads and outdoor potty • Calm and well-behaved in a kennel • Gets in and out of the car on his own • May bark at unfamiliar people     Food & Training   • Not food-protective toward people • May growl if another dog approaches while he is eating • Extremely food-motivated — excellent for training     Play, Training & Intelligence   Charlie is smart, athletic, and playful.   • Loves fetch, tug, and chasing toys • Prefers soft toys like socks and plushies • Enjoys puzzle toys and food-dispensing toys • Strong bite strength — toys wear out quickly   He has even won local competitions for: “Sit & Stay” “Find the Treat”   He thrives in homes that enjoy training, agility, and interactive play.     The Right Home   He needs: A confident, consistent handler Daily exercise and mental stimulation Structured introductions to new dogs and people   In return, he becomes deeply loyal, funny, energetic, and emotionally bonded to his person — a true partner for someone who enjoys an active life with their dog.   Charlie is ready to give his whole heart to the person who gives him stability, leadership, and love. Story
Meet Tansy   Age: 9 months Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Beagle Mix Color: Brown / White Weight: 9.1 kg Height: 40 cm (shoulder height)   Rescue Story   Tansy was rescued during a severe cold wave. She had been living tied up outside a factory, exposed to the freezing weather. Thankfully she was rescued and brought to safety. Now she is safe, warm, and ready to find a loving forever home.   ‍‍ Personality with People   Tansy is a very affectionate and people-loving dog. She happily approaches both familiar people and strangers, rubbing against them and asking for attention.   She loves being petted and handled. Even people she meets for the first time can pick her up, and she often rolls over to show her belly.   She is friendly with both women and men and does well with children under 13 years old.   Socialization with Other Dogs   Tansy is friendly with other dogs and enjoys greeting them and inviting them to play, even if they are strangers.   She tends to get along best with dogs of a similar size. If a dog is very rough or has very high energy, she may choose to avoid them.   She is not confrontational and usually walks away if another dog is pushy. While she enjoys having dog friends, she is independent enough to do well as the only dog in the home.   Cats   Tansy has not been formally tested with cats. When she sees cats during walks, she watches them with curiosity but follows her handler when guided away. A cat test can be arranged if needed.   Energy Level   Tansy has a moderate energy level. She enjoys outdoor activities and exploring during walks, but after exercise she settles down nicely and rests calmly.   Walks   She does not have extensive leash experience yet, but she follows people well and does not pull strongly on the leash. She especially enjoys sniffing and exploring during walks.   Other Notes   • No food guarding toward people or dogs • Rarely barks • No separation anxiety observed • Calm and quiet in a kennel/crate • Mostly prefers outdoor potty   Tansy is a sweet and affectionate young dog who truly loves people. She would make a wonderful companion for a family looking for a friendly, loving, and easygoing dog. Story
Penny | French Bulldog | 3.5 years | Female *We cannot guarantee breed nor age. Temperament: Sweet, high energy, incredibly intelligent. Activity Level: Medium-High energy. Vetting: Vaccinated (DH2PP, Rabies), spayed, microchipped, dewormed, on flea/tick/heartworm prevention year-round. Penny is on Fluoxetine and Gabapentin which has helped significantly. She also has allergies to turkey, chicken, duck and lamb (developed a significant rash on her belly). She had a small reaction to fish (very tiny rash) so we have been avoiding that protein as well. So far she seems ok with beef, kangaroo and pork. Due to the breed's susceptibility to health issues, a home with knowledge around French Bulldog’s common issues is essential. Pet insurance is a must! Future owners should take precautions to avoid overheating, limit stress and seek immediate medical attention if she experiences respiratory distress. Housebroken: Yes. Good with Dogs: Penny is fantastic with dogs when out and about but can be protective and territorial at home. She may show resource guarding behaviour towards other dogs indoors, so a single-pet household is necessary. It’s important to note that all introductions to new dogs should be done in a careful and controlled manner. Good with Cats: No. Good with Children: No. Prey Drive: Yes. Response to outdoors: Penny adores walks, hiking and swimming, and she’s always curious about the world around her. She’s the perfect adventure buddy! Crate-Trained: Yes. Resource Guarding: Penny resource guards with other dogs but not with humans. Response to Commands: She knows sit, stay, heel and fetch. She has been working hard in a board and train with the amazing Dog Hero to learn more fantastic skills. Are they vocal: Not overly barky but she loves to express herself with grumbles and grunts. She will, however, alarm bark at knocks and doorbells. Leash Etiquette: Penny is an excellent walker both on and off-leash, with solidly developing recall and a penchant for stopping to sniff around. Transportation: Penny loves car rides and is always up for an adventure! Introducing the charming Penny! Penny is a slow burn of love. It is very important to note, however, she will be very apprehensive at first. In fact, for the first three weeks in foster care, she had to be kept leashed at all times as she wouldn’t allow us to put a leash on her collar without screaming. She has some issues around physical handling and needs trust with her handlers to be built slowly and patiently. After some time getting to know us, she did eventually relax and we are now able to do whatever we need for her for the most part. Once she gets over her initial fears and inhibitions, Penny is a real treat! Penny can be a snuggly sweetheart who adores affection and belly rubs. However, again, it’s important to take this kind of affection very slowly with her until she feels fully at ease. She loves to start her day with playful energy, and if you’re going on an adventure, she wants to be right there beside you! Whether it’s hiking, swimming or just lounging around, Penny is your loyal companion, ready to jump into any family activity. With her playful spirit, Penny will keep you entertained with her antics. She’s known for her joyful flips when excited and her adorable baby dragon that she snuggles with at night. Her quirky sideways glances and delightful sounds will have you laughing in no time! Shaun from Dog Hero, who has been fostering and working with Penny, will provide guidance on how to set Penny up for success and continue her impressive development.
