Meet Bella Blue – A Brave Survivor Looking for Her Happily Ever After! Bella Blue's story is one of heartbreak, survival, and incredible resilience. When she first came to Wilton Animal Rescue, she was suffering from a horrific injury to her leg, with her badly mangled foot dangling as she struggled to get around. She was frightened, in pain, and unsure if she could trust the humans trying to help her. Thankfully, a kind local teenager helped secure Bella Blue so she could be brought to safety at Wilton Animal Rescue, where her journey toward healing could finally begin. Bella Blue had endured so much. In addition to her devastating leg injury, her ears were covered in insect bites, and her face had several cuts. After veterinary evaluation, it was determined that a full leg amputation was necessary to give her the best chance at a comfortable, happy life. Thanks to the wonderful care of Dr. Gill and his veterinary team, Bella Blue underwent surgery to remove her injured leg and was spayed at the same time. She has also been vaccinated and microchipped. Now a proud three-legged survivor, Bella Blue is proving that losing a leg doesn't mean losing her chance at a wonderful life! When Bella first arrived at the rescue, she was terrified of people and would hide in the bushes to avoid human contact. But with patience, gentle encouragement, and lots of love from our volunteers, she has slowly begun to discover that people can be kind. Bella Blue is making progress every day! She has started showing affection by giving gentle little kisses to volunteers' hands, and she's learning from the other dogs at the rescue that life can be filled with friendship and fun. One of our favorite moments came shortly after her surgery, when Bella got up on her own, went outside to potty, and then discovered a new stuffed Lamb Chop toy. She proudly picked it up and carried it back to her kennel to snuggle with while she rested. It was a small moment, but one that reminded us just how much spirit this special girl has! Bella Blue will need a patient, compassionate adopter who understands both her physical limitations and her emotional needs. Although she has made wonderful progress, she can still be fearful and hesitant around unfamiliar people and situations. She will need a calm, understanding home where she can continue building confidence at her own pace. As a three-legged dog, Bella may also need some accommodations to help her navigate everyday life comfortably. Because of this, he is wary of strangers and needs an experienced caregiver who understands the importance of proper introductions, continued socialization, and consistent, positive training. He's also quite the escape artist! A secure environment, careful supervision, and proper crate or kennel training will be essential to keeping him safe. He needs someone who can provide clear boundaries, structure, and plenty of patience as he learns what is expected of him. Lovely little Luna was left behind to fend for herself when her family lost their home. A neighbor reached out to AFC for help when she noticed Luna’s belly growing ! Shortly after she arrived at Our Sanctuary she gave birth to five darling puppies. Thankfully, a Foster Home stepped up and took in Luna and her babies. FOSTERING SAVES LIVES! The Puppies are all now placed in their new homes and Now it is Luna’s turn! This precious girl would love to be the princess of your palace. Luna is almost 3 years old and weighs 12 pounds, she is a Poodle mix. While in her Foster Home she has mastered the doggie door And sleeping in her Foster Mom’s bed! She uses a ramp to get herself in and out of bed. She is a little shadow girl and will follow you everywhere you go. Her small size makes her an ideal companion for somebody who wants a very tote able pet. Luna is scheduled to be spayed in November but we are looking for her home now. Ollie is such a sweet and special boy with a quiet and lovely nature. Ollie is an 1 ½ -year-old, 14-pound wheat-colored Poodle/Chihuahua mix (his mother is a Poodle and dad is a Chihuahua). Ollie is a lovable pup who will need time to adjust to his new surroundings. He thrives best in a calmer environment, ideally with another friendly dog. He loves snuggling up with other dogs, and having a canine companion would be perfect for him! Because of Ollie’s gentle, bashful demeanor, we recommend a home with adults or older teenagers.
