Story
Waffles is an adorable 3-year-old Miniature Poodle weighing 14 pounds, and he's ready to leave his past behind and find the loving forever home he deserves. With his gentle personality, soulful eyes, and sweet little "bunny hops," Waffles is the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart.
Waffles came to ROOT Rescue after his owner was deported and, through no fault of his own, his relatives were no longer able to care for him. It was a heartbreaking situation for everyone involved, and suddenly Waffles found himself starting over in an unfamiliar place.
When Waffles arrived in our care, it was clear he had not received the veterinary care or grooming he deserved. His coat was severely matted, and he had never been vetted. Despite everything he had been through and all of the changes in his life, Waffles has remained incredibly sweet, gentle, and loving. While he can be a little nervous in new situations and takes a little time to build confidence, his affectionate personality shines through once he feels safe.
Waffles has become especially attached to his foster family and has the cutest habit of doing little bunny hops when he's excited to see them. To make him even more adorable, after his grooming appointment the groomer left a fluffy cotton puff on the end of his tail, making him look just like a little rabbit! As his beautiful curly coat continues to grow back, his future family should be committed to regular professional grooming and routine brushing to keep him comfortable and prevent painful matting.
Waffles has wonderful manners around the house. He has done an excellent job with potty training and happily uses both wee pads and the outdoors. He also enjoys going for walks and has settled nicely into a routine.
Waffles is both dog-friendly and cat-friendly and enjoys the companionship of other animals. He would love a home with another friendly dog to keep him company, especially one with a calm personality like his own. However, he would also be perfectly happy as the only dog, soaking up all the love and attention from his family.
Because Waffles can be a little timid and is still adjusting after all he's been through, we feel he would do best in an adult-only home with a calm, laid-back environment. He isn't looking for a busy household—just a peaceful home where he can continue building confidence and enjoy the simple things in life. If you're looking for a quiet companion to share walks, cozy evenings on the couch, and unconditional love, Waffles may be the perfect match.
Waffles has been fully vetted and is ready for his forever family. He has been examined by our veterinarian, is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and has tested negative for both heartworm and Lyme disease.
Every rescue dog has a story, and while Waffles' story began with unexpected loss and uncertainty, we know his future can be filled with love, stability, and happiness. All he needs is someone willing to give him the second chance he so deserves.
If you think Waffles could be the perfect addition to your family, we'd love to hear from you!
