Story
Captain is a 2-year-old little gentleman weighing 16-17 lbs. He's fully grown and not expected to get any bigger - though he may gain a pound or two once his adorable curls grow back in! When Captain first came into rescue, he was very matted and uncomfortable, so we had no choice but to shave him down completely. We know his short haircut makes him look a little funny right now, but he is just as adorable, and his beautiful coat will return before you know it. Captain is looking for a committed, patient adopter who understands his sensitive nature and is willing to continue helping him build confidence. He is a laid-back, lower-energy boy who simply wants to be your companion. He gets along wonderfully with his 60 lb foster canine sister and would do best with a calm, easygoing female dog like himself. While Captain is sweet and loving, he can be startled by sudden movements or loud noises, so he would thrive in a quieter home. His foster mom shares that he absolutely adores her. He follows her from room to room, always curious about what she's doing, and he has even built up the courage to approach her for affection - sometimes sweetly demanding to be petted. He loves his crate with his cozy bed, which serves as his safe space, though he much prefers being close to his people whenever possible. Captain is fully vetted - he's been vet checked, is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, neutered, heartworm negative, and he's even received a dental cleaning to show off his fresh set of pearly whites. If you're ready to give this gentle boy the loving, understanding home he deserves, please reach out to info@rootrescue.org for more information about Captain.
