Story
We rescued Smokey from an animal sanctuary around 15 years ago after he had been abandoned by his previous owner. We didn't know his age when we took him in, but suspect he is somewhere between 16 and 18 years old. Despite his age he doesn't seem to have lost any of his energy or otherwise displayed signs of aging. Smokey has had some form of digestive or respiratory issue for most of his life that vets could not confirm after several visits, constantly experimenting with different diets and medicines with occasional success in relieving his coughing and vomiting. Despite being in the same house for most of his life he has never stopped being scared of everyday sounds and objects. Smokey is not a social cat. While not outright aggressive, he is very timid and can become defensive around new people and animals. Very clingy with his owner, Smokey is gentle and affectionate, prefering calm and quite people. Despite spending most of the day sleeping he always loves to play.
