Meet Cody! This adorable Rat Terrier/Chihuahua Mix boy was surrendered to a shelter along with his littermates. It is suspected that they came from a backyard breeder, and unfortunately the puppies were not socialized. Because of that, Cody is a timid, frightened little pup who is still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place.Cody is initially afraid of other dogs, people and loud noises. He is currently living in a foster home where he is slowly learning about life as a family companion dog. With patience, kindness, and understanding, Cody has the potential to blossom into the fun, happy little dog he was always meant to be.Cody will need an adopter who can move at his pace and help him build confidence through positive experiences and gentle reassurance. Watching a shy puppy learn to trust can be incredibly rewarding, and Cody deserves a family willing to give him that chance. Story
Lucas is a shy boy at first. Once he gets to know you, he is very happy to see you and loves to play with his ball. His is still wary whenever you touch him if he does not expect it. With the right amount of time and love he is a great companion. Lucas was found outside a school several months ago; he is learning that he is safe from having to fend for himself on the streets. He is also getting used to not marking in the house, but with belly bands and continued reinforcement we know he will learn and get better. He is also learning not to guard his toys. We do slow introductions with some dogs over and will continue to keep his profile updated on his progress. We are so happy we could save him from the shelter and give him a second chance at life, he is just a wonderful boy. He was recently moved to a different foster home where he will get exposure to more pets and some consistent walks and work on desensitization to stimuli that he has found alarming.
