Kellogg (A566872) arrived on April 16 after being found abandoned and tied to a pole in New Hope. It is never easy to picture what a dog went through before help arrived, but despite how his story began, this handsome hound is choosing to move forward with nothing but sweetness and hope. From the moment he came through our doors, Kellogg has been stealing hearts with his long ears, soft expression and gentle nature. He is a very affectionate boy who absolutely does not know his size. In his mind, he is a lap dog and he will gladly lean all fifty plus pounds of himself into you if it means getting closer. He loves people deeply and shows it with every nudge, tail wag and attempt to sit right in your lap. Kellogg has been tested with a female dog and did well. He was not interested in rough play or chaos. He was simply content to coexist, walk calmly and enjoy the company of another dog without needing anything more. That quiet, steady presence has made him a favorite among staff and volunteers who just want a dog who appreciates simple moments. He has had a sad beginning, but he is not letting that define him. Kellogg is choosing connection, gentleness and trust. What he needs now is a home that will choose him back and finally give him the love he has always deserved. Kellogg is estimated to be around 2 years old and weighs 65 pounds. All animals adopted from Huntsville Animal Services are microchipped, appropriately vaccinated, spayed/neutered and given a 30 day flea/tick preventative.Ready to meet Kellogg? This sweet girl is around 7–8 months old and ready to find her people. • ✅ Spayed • ✅ Dog-friendly • ✅ Kid-friendly • 🐾 Likely has some hound in her • 🎶 A little vocal (hound personality shining through!) • 💛 Extremely sweet and loving She is the kind of dog that wants to be near you, watch you, and love on you. She has that gentle, soulful look and such a soft personality. Still young enough to train easily, but past the tiny puppy stage. Sadly, her start in life wasn’t the best. She came from a home where she was constantly yelled at and not treated kindly. When her owners moved away, they simply abandoned her and left her behind. Because of that, she can be a little timid at first, but once she realizes she’s safe, her sweet personality really shines through. All she wants is love and reassurance. She would do great in a home that appreciates a little hound chatter and a whole lot of affection.
