Meet Gumbo, a Redbone Coonhound with all the right ingredients: a playful personality, a social nature, and just enough attitude to keep things interesting. He’s great with other dogs, walks nicely on leash, and is especially happy when he’s hanging out with his best buddy, Cajun. And then there’s that soulful bay - deep, beautiful, and unmistakably hound.
Gumbo came to Artemis with Cajun after their owner lost his home and could no longer care for them. He hasn’t experienced life as a house dog yet, but we expect his easygoing nature will serve him well indoors.
Gumbo has all the makings of a wonderful companion; he just needs the right home to complete the recipe.

Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas.
We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI.
Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue.
Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee.
MICHIGAN RESIDENTS—>PLEASE CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO FILL OUT THE ADOPTION APPLICATION:

Before we can change your new furbaby’s status from "adoptable" to "adoption pending," the $50 transport fee must be paid to secure the adoption. At that time, we will stop accepting applications.
The entire adoption fee must be paid prior to the transport in order to ensure your new baby has a spot on the transport.
Thank you SO MUCH for giving a homeless Arkansas pup a chance at a real life with a family of their very own!
