Story
If you're feeling a little low, rub sweet June's velvety ears, and all will be right with the world. June certainly appreciates those ear rubs and getting petted and scratched, too! She's a friendly, happy girl who loves everyone she meets, human and dog alike. But if you are her people, she'll be your loyal companion for the rest of her life. At about nine years old, she's good about not chewing on things she shouldn't, although she does enjoy a toy bone now and then. June loves running around in the yard and going on walks (she's good on leash, too!). Your walks with June won't be speedy, though, because she's a hound and she's going to do what hounds do. June's nose will be sniffing the ground the whole time, and if she's enjoying herself, doggone it, June's had enough unpleasantness in her life, she deserves some good sniffing. The other thing you need to know about June is that she doesn't like the cold. She literally shakes. June has short hair, so maybe that's why she's so sensitive to frigid temps. Or maybe it's because she was so cold for so long outside, fending for herself. Either way, you'll need to be mindful of this about June. She does appreciate a nice warm sweater or coat, or a warm-up hug. During the winter of 2024, June was found at a truck stop, brought to a shelter, and, to everyone's surprise, promptly had eight puppies.* That was two years ago. June has since been spayed and is happy to have regular meals and a safe, warm place to sleep, but she'd really like a family to call her own. *Five of June's puppies are still at the shelter. Feel free to contact The Pet Connection if you'd like information on them. Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 to set up a time to meet darling June. She's in the Kansas City metro, but transport is available to the right home.

Story
Meet Rygar! He just arrived to us from one of our rescue partners in Texas. He is really sweet and dog friendly. Basics: He is a neutered male guessed to be around 1 yr old and weighs close to 30lbs. He is currently in a foster home in Kansas City, MO Adoption Process: - STEP 1: Please fill out our adoption application: https://www.dayofthedogs.org/adoption-application - One of our team members will get back to you via phone. - Our dogs can be seen by appointment only. We do not have a facility at this time. Dogs are in foster homes or boarding - Adoption fee is $280. It helps to cover transport costs, spay/neuter, initial vaccines, rabies, fecal, initial worming, and microchip. -We do not place holds on our dogs. Please do not contact us until you are prepared to adopt. NOTE: We are very good about updating the pet's profiles once adopted. So no need to write us to ask "Is he/she still available?" If the post is up, the dog is still available. About Us: Day of the Dogs is a 501c3 nonprofit. Since 2015 we have been dedicated to helping shelters increase live release. We coordinate 2 - 4 transports per month from TX, OK and AR to NW Indiana/Chicagoland and the Kansas City area. We do direct adoptions ourselves out of Kansas City and NW Indiana areas. We also partner with other rescues and shelters in IN, IL, KS and MO that are willing to help southern pets in need. We rely on donations to help fund our ongoing transports. Please donate if you can. Every dollar adds up and we are grateful for any help we can get: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/DayoftheDogs
