Story
The dog is not quite 2 years old and was adopted from shelter as a puppy by my granddaughter. She has 3 children who are ages 1 to 5 and when the puppy grew large the children became afraid of his playful jumping and running. He has been trained to sit but that doesn’t help the fear the children have of him. The other thing is that she lives on a busy road and he only has a 10x10 kennel. He would make an awesome pet for someone with a fenced yard or acreage. He is free but only to someone who has the ability to give him the exercise that he needs whether it be fenced yard or acreage. If you meet these requirements the kennel and dogloo dog house with red heat lamp are included free.

Meet Scooby!Scooby is about 4.5 years old and around 65 ponds! He is very sweet, though he is a little skittish around new people. He would be best fit in a home that has a large, fenced area that he can burn some of his energy out. He did test positive for heartworms and is undergoing further treatment for it.Scooby is already up to date on his vaccines, neutered, microchipped and ready for his forever family! If you have any questions or would like to meet Scooby, please call us at (828)980-0016 or email us at rutherfordanimalcontrol@heartofthefoothills.org

Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC. December 16, 2025, 12:13 am

Story
Scout is 7 and loves his humans. He likes to be near his people, but due to a change in circumstances, we are not home enough for him. We adopted him from the Humane Society as a pup. He went through a dog training course. He is healthy and has had regular veterinary care. He needs a few minutes to accept a new person in his home, but takes to people quite well. He also gets along great with other dogs and used to go to doggy day care. He’s a great dog who just likes to be around s people.
