Hi… I’m Wallace 🤎🐾I’m a 1-year-old Black Mouth Cur / Chihuahua mix, weighing about 28 pounds, with extra-soft black and brown fur and big, loving brown eyes. People say my eyes look right into your soul — I think it’s because I’ve been waiting a long time to truly belong to someone. 💕Before I came to the shelter, I lived in a hoarding situation with many other dogs. We mostly stayed outside and were fed, but I didn’t get to learn how to be part of a family. I didn’t really know how to play. I didn’t know how cozy a warm bed could feel. I didn’t know what it meant to have someone choose me. So when new things happen, I can be a little shy and timid at first. I just need a moment… and some patience… and maybe a few yummy treats. 🥹 Once I realize I’m safe, I warm up so quickly. And when I do? Oh, I love with my whole heart.At the shelter, I’ve been discovering all the good things in life. Warm, cozy beds are amazing. Squeaky toys? Mind-blowing. Crinkly toys? Absolutely fascinating. I love to run and play once I feel comfortable. And when I see someone I care about walking toward me, I can’t help it — I do the cutest little excited tippy-tappy dance with my front paws. It just happens! My heart gets so happy it spills right out into my feet. 🐾💃✨I’m a very sweet boy who loves to be held and soak up attention. Sitting at your feet or curling up in your lap is my favorite place to be. I adore sweaters (I look pretty handsome in them, if I do say so myself 🧥😉), and I’m learning all about being a house dog. I’ve figured out how to use a doggie door and have done well with crate training too.I’m great with other dogs and would really love a home with a canine friend — someone to help me feel confident and show me the ropes. I haven’t been tested with kids yet, but with my gentle and loving personality, I’d likely do very well. I’m especially wonderful with the elderly — calm, tender, and happy to simply sit close. 💛I don’t have much experience with car rides yet, but if I can be glued to my person’s side the whole way, I think I could learn to enjoy the adventure. 🚗🐶More than anything, I’m hoping for a home that wants a true velcro dog — the kind who follows you from room to room, rests his head on your knee, and looks up at you like you’re his whole world. Because you would be. I’ve spent my first year just surviving. Now I’m ready to belong.
