Scout is a one-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix with plenty of energy, personality, and potential. This handsome young guy came to us as a stray and was unfortunately very underweight, so we’re especially happy to see him gaining weight and confidence.Scout is still learning the basics and will need continued work on obedience, manners, and all the things that come with being a well-mannered companion. Because he arrived as a stray, we don’t know much about his past, including whether he is house-trained.Scout can be reactive around other dogs. Here at the shelter, he tends to come on strong and play intensely. With patience, structure, continued training, and appropriate socialization, Scout has the potential to make great progress. However, a home as an only dog would be best since he has shown resource guarding towards other dogs. Because of his energy, size, and need for guidance, Scout would do best with an experienced handler who understands young, energetic dogs and is willing to put in the time and effort to help him learn. He’s looking for someone who will give him structure, consistency, exercise, training, and plenty of positive reinforcement.Scout may need some work, but he has so much potential. With the right person by his side, this enthusiastic young dog could grow into an incredible companion.

I habe has scrappy since he was a lil pup. He is very attached to me and very protective also. He has issues in which I had him shock trained and I didn’t follow throigh consistently . He is spoiled for sure .. he is strong amd allt to handle since my motorcycle accident on July 13 I haven’t been able to do much with him at all. I want him to have fun go on hikes do fun stuff .. he so. Deserves. As hard has this decision is , I know it’s the decision I must make .

Story
Meet Hunden! Sweet, playful Vizsla mix, female, spayed, about 50 lbs, around 1.5-2 years old. Hunden was a stray at an RV park in Baja, Mexico, waiting outside our trailer every morning. I'm from Sweden, so I greeted her with "Hej hunden" (Hi, dog). The name stuck, and so did she. We got her vetted, treated for a tick-borne parasite, and drove her home to California. She's housebroken, microchipped, vaccinated, on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and great on a leash and in the car. She learns quickly, is submissive and affectionate, and still has plenty of puppy in her. She seems fine with kids and other animals. Best fit: an active family with a backyard, ideally with dog experience. Meet-and-greet and home check preferable. She's on the California Central Coast. We're moving abroad and want her to have a forever home.
