Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Zenia Zenia is a beautiful Great Pyrenees and Rhodesian Ridgeback mix whose story could have ended very differently. She came into our care after her family wanted to euthanize her for being barky and protective of her crate. She never bit anyone. She snapped at the air once. That was it. Thankfully, she was surrendered instead and given the chance she deserved. Since then, Zenia has shown exactly who she is. She may bark a bit when someone first enters her space, but she settles quickly and becomes incredibly sweet and affectionate. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, crate trained, potty trained, and knows basic obedience. She walks well on leash, though she prefers her space on leash and does best without on leash greetings, which is something we already practice. Zenia absolutely adores cats. Her first night in foster, she froze to the floor for hours until the resident cat came around. The moment she saw him, she perked right up, tail wagging, kissing him. Cats clearly calm her. She has even slept in her kennel with a cat curled up beside her. She is gentle, respectful, and loving with them. Once Zenia trusts you, she loves deeply. She is a total cuddle bug, will happily sit in laps, loves blankets and toys, and is incredibly gentle with her belongings. She has never destroyed a toy. She’s affectionate, gives kisses freely, and has the most pitiful eyes that will absolutely win you over. She is great with other dogs, attends daycare, and is handled daily by both male and female staff who all adore her. On workdays she enjoys daycare, and on days off she is a full couch potato. One of her favorite things is standing or sitting between your legs. If she chooses you for that spot, you’ve officially made it. Zenia’s previous family had never owned a guardian breed, and her foster had been helping them navigate her needs for months. The day before Thanksgiving, an incident was reported and plans were made to euthanize her after the holiday. Instead, she was surrendered that very night and has been safe ever since. She has done nothing but prove she is a wonderful, loving dog who simply needed understanding. Zenia is currently at our Missoula facility and is available for meet and greets by appointment. She is adored by everyone who has met her, so much so that her caregivers are even throwing her a goodbye and congratulations party before she heads to Montana. This girl is truly special, and we cannot wait for her to find the family who will love her for the incredible dog she is.
