He’s very intelligent, extremely loyal and super energetic. Butch aims to please his human. Butch enjoys walks, play time and treat time. Butch is leashed trained and does well on walks. However, Butch is highly prey driven. Especially with rabbits and squirrels. He can be distracted easily. With quick correction, Butch can be redirected. Butch exhibits excellent behavior at grooming and vet visits (no muzzle needed). He does exceptionally well with home grooming and loves getting his teeth brushed. Due to Butch’s excitement level and strength, he should be placed in a home with humans aged 12 and older. Overall, Butch is a love bug, remarkably affectionate and deserves to be placed in a loving home.   Upon approval to adopt, you will be sent SSRR Decompression and Introduction requirements that we require ALL of our adopters to follow . Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact SSRR (Adoptions@southernstatesrescuedrottweilers.org) for more information about this pet.                      Meet Santa — the Christmas miracle Santa came into the world unwanted. When he stumbled onto our property last Christmas, he was barely hanging on — skin and bones, severely emaciated and dehydrated, covered in fleas. Around his neck was a thick, filthy rope pulled so tight it had cut into him, leaving scarring that has taken months to heal. He had chewed clean through that rope himself, fighting to free himself just to survive. And of all the days to come scratching at a stranger's door, he chose Christmas — so that's the name he earned: Santa, the gift none of us saw coming. From that broken beginning, what he's become is nothing short of remarkable. He arrived heartworm positive, dangerously underweight, and battling a nasty respiratory infection, and he's spent every month since in foster care doing the hard work of getting healthy. Through all of it — every vet visit, every setback — he never stopped being sweet, trusting, and gentle. He came out the other side with his nub wagging. These days, Santa is exactly what you'd hope a young Rottweiler would be: a big, sweet, affectionate boy with a playful streak. He's got energy to burn when the fun starts, but he gases out quick — a good romp and he's ready to flop down and relax. His happy place is the pool: he loves stretching out on the step to cool off, and he's even started venturing into the water (his swimming's a work in progress, but he's game). He's a ball dog through and through — give him a ball to chase and carry around and he's a happy guy. He also does wonderfully with other dogs; he's playful and a great fit with our own pack, so a confident canine sibling would suit him well. But more than anything, Santa is pure affection. He's got what we call a smooshy face — super squishy and sweet — and he knows how to use it. He'll do the classic Rottie lean, putting his full weight against the people he loves, and he wants nothing more than to be in your arms or laid against your side getting pet. A ball and a spot next to you out in the sun is, hands down, his favorite thing in the world. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact SSRR (Adoptions@southernstatesrescuedrottweilers.org) for more information about this pet.                    Meet Remy! She is a petite 50 pound rottweiler and a little over a year old.  She is still very much a puppy, and ,as such, can be very curious about her surroundings.  Soft toys are a “no” as she will eat them.  Same with anything soft (socks, underwear, etc.)  Her favorite toy is the kong and occasionally a nylabone.  She is active in the morning, wants to play, gets the zoomies, but as afternoon rolls around she is very laid back.  She is somewhat sensitive and responds well to gentle correction.   She is very sweet and likes to play with other dogs.  While her foster siblings are medium size dogs and tolerate her, she would do better with a dog her size.  She has been taken to public places and likes to greet everyone.  She is up to date on the vaccines and heartworm/flea treatment.  She is house trained and crate trained.  Currently she is on a very consistent schedule and does well.  She knows basic commands, sit, come, stay and would make a wonderful family pet.  Her size is a plus! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact SSRR (Adoptions@southernstatesrescuedrottweilers.org) for more information about this pet.                      Leo is all heart!  He's affectionate, eager to please, and happiest when he's near his people.  He's a total softie who loves cuddles and belly rubs.  He loves a good squeaky toy, swimming, and squirrel chasing.  Leo knows basic commands, is housebroken, and crate-trained.  He's great with kids, but leans on those he loves, so older kids would probably be best.  Leo gets along with his foster brother, but has toy resource guarding, which we are still working on.  He would be very content to just be by your side all day. He is lower energy, so if you need a couch companion, he would like to volunteer for the job.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact SSRR (Adoptions@southernstatesrescuedrottweilers.org) for more information about this pet.                        My name is Stacie. I need a mom that has it going on! Will you be that mom (or Dad?) It happened on a winter night in late December, not in ’63, but in 2025. I was in a shelter in Maryland and SSRR wanted to save me. No other rescue saw me as a diamond in the rough. Why am I that diamond in the rough you ask? Well, let me tell you …I am deaf. There, my secret is out. I wasn’t necessarily born deaf. The Vet thinks I had a little touch of distemper when I was a puppy and that may have caused me to lose my hearing. However, my deafness doesn’t hamper me in the least bit! I hope you do not see that as a disability, because I don’t. On with the story…. So, this foster lady said if I could get to Florida, she would take me. SSRR swooped in, took me out of the shelter, and a chariot of transporters caravaned me to Florida! I arrived in the dark of the night…10:00 PM. What can I say? I’m mellow dramatic. I didn’t know what was going on and I was scared. The only thing that I had going for me was I am house trained. Oh, and I loved to eat and still do! I was just what my foster Mom needed as she thrives on dogs like me. So, she set to work. At first, I was shy about being petted on my head, but now I see that as an awesome thing! I love to give licks and kisses with my big old tongue. At 92 pounds, I’m a voluptuous girl and I think my foster Mom says I have big old bear paws. At least if I understood English, that is what she would say. I have also learned that toys are fun to play with and I love tug of war! My foster mom owns a pet boarding place, and I go to work with her every day. I am with her pretty much 24/7, so we are besties. At least I think so. I just don’t understand this closed bathroom door and privacy bit. However, no Rottie does. I also like other dogs, especially the ones who are my size. I need to learn to be a little more delicate around smaller dogs. And if there is another dog in my furever home, I would prefer an easy-going pooch. I cannot hear warning growls, so if I am doing something to annoy another dog, I don’t know to stop doing what I was doing. My biggest drawback is I do pull on the leash but I can’t understand why it’s so important to walk a straight line. However, if my new furever Mom or Dad would work with me on that, I can be a master and walk the line! My foster mom thinks I am perfect and she would love to keep me, but her other bozo Rottie prefers to be the only dog in the house. So, SSRR is trying to find me a new furever home where I could stay. I should get to work on that idea! Or better yet… could you be my furever family? Meet Maggie, being fostered in Chesapeake, VA! This sweet, lovable girl is practically perfect in every way, and she is officially searching for her forever home.   Why We Love Maggie: The Ultimate Social Butterfly: She gets along with other dogs, kids, AND cats! She’s currently living with a smaller foster brother and is incredibly gentle with him, even though she’s a big girl who doesn’t quite know her own size.   Playtime Champion: Maggie’s absolute favorite things are playing fetch, chasing her own tail, and engaging in an epic game of tug-of-war (she is an awesome tugger!). She loves to run around a big yard and is just happy to be alive.   Perfect House Manners: She is crate-trained and sleeps like a dream without making a fuss. Plus, she's already leashtrained and completely ignores other dogs on her walks—she’s just thrilled to be outside sniffing the roses!   A Smart Cookie: Maggie already knows "sit" and "stay." In fact, when it’s dinnertime, she will patiently sit in her crate and "stay" while you prep her food, waiting for her cue ("OK to eat!") to dig in.   Fun Fact: Maggie is a fast eater! She uses a puzzle bowl to help her slow down and savor her meals. Bath Time Note: She gets a little hyper during baths—she’s still learning to love the scrubs and bubbles, but she's a trooper!   Quick Facts: Compatibility: Good with dogs, cats, and kids! She loves anyone she meets.   Skills: Cratetrained, leashtrained, obedient, and does great in the car.   Home Requirements: Requires a secure yard to run and play in.   Personality: Playful, affectionate, gentle, and goofy.   Ready to Adopt? Maggie is available for adoption. Please note that upon approval to adopt, you will be sent the SSRR Decompression and Introduction requirements.
