Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact SSRR (Adoptions@southernstatesrescuedrottweilers.org) for more information about this pet.                      Meet Marlee: The World-Class Companion (No Hiking Required) If your version of a "big adventure" is moving from the desk to the couch, Marlee is the girl you’ve been waiting for. Marlee is a gentle, senior soul who has mastered the art of being near you. She doesn’t need a palace or a marathon; she just needs to know where your feet are so she can lay on top of them. Marlee is a distinguished lady with good manners. She is fully house-trained and has a unique way of communicating—if she needs to go out while you’re napping, she’ll gently grab your foot and give it a gentle nudge to let you know. She isn't a furniture jumper; she’s perfectly content with her paws on the floor and her head in your lap for her favorite thing in the world: head scratches. Her Ideal Retirement Home: Because Marlee is a "vintage" model, she has a few specific requests for her forever home: No or not many stairs. Marlee’s hips aren't as young as they used to be, so a home with very few steps (or a ramp) is a must, as even two steps can be a struggle for her. We are having her hips looked and have her on a diet to improve the stress on her joints. Rug Enthusiasts Welcome: Hardwood and tile can be slippery for her. She does best in a home with carpeting or plenty of area rugs to help her find her footing. Only-Dog Energy: Marlee prefers to be the queen of her castle. She doesn't care for the high energy of other female dogs and would be happiest as your one-and-only. It is possible she could be ok with a low energy male dog. Early Risers: Marlee is a 5:00 AM girl! If you’re already up for coffee at dawn, she’s the perfect partner to watch the sunrise with. Health & Happiness: Marlee is currently on a "get-fit" journey! She’s a bit curvy and enjoys her specialized diet twice a day to help take the pressure off her joints. While she moves slowly, she still loves a "perimeter check" of the yard to make sure everything is safe. On her very best days, she’ll even break out her favorite Christmas toy for a little celebratory play. Marlee is looking for a quiet home with someone who is around often—a retiree or a work-from-home professional would be her absolute dream. Marlee deserves to spend her golden years in a loving home that is committed to her until the end. She has a lot of love to give. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact SSRR (Adoptions@southernstatesrescuedrottweilers.org) for more information about this pet.                        My name is Stacie. I need a mom that has it going on! Will you be that mom (or Dad?) It happened on a winter night in late December, not in ’63, but in 2025. I was in a shelter in Maryland and SSRR wanted to save me. No other rescue saw me as a diamond in the rough. Why am I that diamond in the rough you ask? Well, let me tell you …I am deaf. There, my secret is out. I wasn’t necessarily born deaf. The Vet thinks I had a little touch of distemper when I was a puppy and that may have caused me to lose my hearing. However, my deafness doesn’t hamper me in the least bit! I hope you do not see that as a disability, because I don’t. On with the story…. So, this foster lady said if I could get to Florida, she would take me. SSRR swooped in, took me out of the shelter, and a chariot of transporters caravaned me to Florida! I arrived in the dark of the night…10:00 PM. What can I say? I’m mellow dramatic. I didn’t know what was going on and I was scared. The only thing that I had going for me was I am house trained. Oh, and I loved to eat and still do! I was just what my foster Mom needed as she thrives on dogs like me. So, she set to work. At first, I was shy about being petted on my head, but now I see that as an awesome thing! I love to give licks and kisses with my big old tongue. At 92 pounds, I’m a voluptuous girl and I think my foster Mom says I have big old bear paws. At least if I understood English, that is what she would say. I have also learned that toys are fun to play with and I love tug of war! My foster mom owns a pet boarding place, and I go to work with her every day. I am with her pretty much 24/7, so we are besties. At least I think so. I just don’t understand this closed bathroom door and privacy bit. However, no Rottie does. I also like other dogs, especially the ones who are my size. I need to learn to be a little more delicate around smaller dogs. And if there is another dog in my furever home, I would prefer an easy-going pooch. I cannot hear warning growls, so if I am doing something to annoy another dog, I don’t know to stop doing what I was doing. My biggest drawback is I do pull on the leash but I can’t understand why it’s so important to walk a straight line. However, if my new furever Mom or Dad would work with me on that, I can be a master and walk the line! My foster mom thinks I am perfect and she would love to keep me, but her other bozo Rottie prefers to be the only dog in the house. So, SSRR is trying to find me a new furever home where I could stay. I should get to work on that idea! Or better yet… could you be my furever family?
