Although he is a senior dog, he neither looks nor acts his age. He is healthy-looking, easygoing, and wonderfully low-maintenance.Personality & TemperamentAxel is a quiet, loyal companion who asks for very little. He has an exceptionally polite and somewhat reserved personality. He is the kind of dog who seems to ask permission before entering a room and will sometimes wait until no one is watching before eating his food.He is affectionate without being demanding, although he does enjoy gently nuzzling his way into a few extra pets. More than anything, Axel loves being told he’s a good boy!Living EnvironmentAxel is comfortable both indoors and outdoors. He has spent most of his life on a large property where he has enjoyed the freedom to roam and explore.Despite his size, he is an exceptionally easy dog to have around. He has never been destructive, has never chewed on anything that wasn’t food, and has no particular interest in toys. He is perfectly content simply enjoying his surroundings and the companionship of his person.Training & MannersAxel is extremely attentive and responsive to voice commands. He reliably understands:* Sit* Come* Stay* Lie down* Go outside* Wait* TakeHe is also remarkably easy to walk for such a large dog. He responds to verbal instructions to slow down, stop, or wait, making walks relaxed and manageable.Other Animals & ChildrenAxel gets along peacefully with other animals, although he generally prefers human companionship over the company of other pets. He has never bitten.He is not particularly comfortable around small children and will bark to communicate when he wants them to give him space. For this reason, a quiet, adult household without young children would be his ideal environment.SensitivitiesLike many dogs, Axel is sensitive to fireworks and thunderstorms. He also enjoys joining in with a howl whenever he hears emergency sirens.Axel’s Ideal HomeAxel would thrive in a peaceful, stable home with someone who appreciates a calm, loyal, undemanding companion. He would be especially well-suited to a mature or senior owner looking for a devoted friend without the high energy and constant attention requirements of a younger dog.He doesn’t need toys, endless entertainment, or constant activity.
