Story
Please contact Courtney Nobles (courtneyn@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Giant sweet girl seeking forever family! GIA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Gia        Best Guess for Breed:   Rottweiler mix    Best Guess for Age:  3.5 years as of February 2025  SEX:   Female   Approximate Weight:   102 lbs   Gets Along With:  Gia has lived with other dogs and with children ages 4 and 11! She hasn't lived with cats - it'd be best to test her with cats if you have them.    Currently Living at:   Seeking a forever home!   Special adoption considerations: Gia is a truly Lucky Dog. Although she has tested positive for heartworms, treatment has been scheduled! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment.  We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.    All about Gia: Gia arrived into our care in December of 2022 nursing four puppies - Granger, Grady, Giselle, and Genesis. She was an amazing mama and quickly got her own humans after her babies all went off to their forever homes.   She has been in a wonderful, loving home since the early part of 2023 and through no fault of anyone, now needs a new home. Her previous humans say that she is an incredibly loving, social, and happy pup. In their words - 'She LOVES children. She needs reminders to be gentle with smaller children. Gia is large, but isn't aware of her size so she often wants to play with kids of all sizes in the same manner. She is always playful, kind and a true sweetheart---she just gets soooo excited.'   She is also a social butterfly with other dogs. And speaking of butterflies - Gia gets distracted by real butterflies when she is on leash! Her humans describe her as very docile and sweet with other animals, so maybe she just wants to be friends with the butterfly....   Out of the home, she loves her hikes and walks. In the home she's just a large, awesome, loving presence. And she's ready to be that large, awesome, loving presence for a new family. What do you say? Is Gia the one for your home and your heart?   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
