Story
I'm at our New York Avenue shelter! If you want to adopt me, come to 1201 New York Ave. NE between 12-7 pm Tuesday-Sunday or visit humanerescuealliance.org/how-to-adopt to learn more.Ratta cannot believe he is now safe. This poor guy was left tied to fence behind a restaurant- and he was there for 4 days! Who could have dumped this innocent sweetie?! He's so happy to be inside, where it is warm. Ratta is an incredibly handsome pup. Considering his past, he is an extremely friendly doggie who already knows "sit" - plus he is a top of line cuddler. Ratta has skills and we adore him. He, of course, was a bit thin when he arrived, but he is totally enjoying all the meals and he REALLY likes the treats. Ratta would love to be snuggling on a nice couch with you. Please meet this stoic love muffin today.Head to this link to see how we've been responding to Canine Influenza in shelter and working to keep it from spreading in the community!https://www.humanerescuealliance.org/blog/posts/what-you-need-to-know-about-canine-influenza

Story
Please contact Courtney Nobles (courtneyn@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.a dog by any other name.... ROSE NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Rose       Best Guess for Breed:  Rottweiler mix   Best Guess for Age:  4 years as of November 2023       SEX:  Female   Approximate Weight:  60 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested   Currently Living at:  South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area!   Special adoption considerations: Rose is a truly Lucky Dog. Although she has tested positive for heartworms, treatment has been scheduled! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment.  We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.    Rose is a tripod and she is doing great on three legs!   Rose is Looking For:   Rose doesn't even remember that she arrived to us needing a leg amputated and to go through heartworm treartment. She is a happy, loving girl looking forward to her next chapter. She's so eager to have her own humans for sniffy walks and world exploration - and lots of and lots of snuggles! Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed are on her wish list as well. But you know what? Nothing - nothing at all - is more important to her than knowing she is safe and loved, knowing who her family is. She has so much love and laughter to offer. What do you say? Are you Rose's new start? Are you her lucky humans?   What My Foster Says About Me:  We will update this once she has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with her foster   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.   Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!  Please visit us online at    www.luckydoganimalrescue.org   .    BE A FOSTER!!!    Fosters make it possible for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue to save and care for homeless and abandoned dogs!  To learn about fostering, please contact    fostering@luckydoganimalrescue.org   ! Story
I'm at our Oglethorpe Street shelter! If you want to adopt me, come to 71 Oglethorpe St. NW between 12-7 pm Tuesday-Sunday or visit humanerescuealliance.org/how-to-adopt to learn more.Sir Kane Knight here and let me tell you why you should take me home today. First of all, I am by far THE most handsome dog at the shelter. Really, I am stunning. Heads will turn when they see me. I'm sure the other dogs are jealous. Secondly, I have a real zest for life. I could almost be a personal trainer as I have oodles of energy and I will get you moving and grooving! Yes, we will have time to watch movies and such, but I've got an urge to be busy with you coming along. We will have so much fun together. I bet I would excel at positive training classes together with you too. So, I had a home, but the little kids were too much for me. Plus, I'm a jumbo 80 pounds and was too big for those wee kids. I am such a great dog that I've become a Volunteer Favorite and they shared, "Sir Kane Knight has excellent leash skills, particularly for a bigger pup. And if you sit down, he will readily take that as an invitation to sit in your lap for cuddles. He is a love bug!" So, what do you say- ready for a frisky fellow with all the good looks you have been looking for? Then meet me soon. I'm a real catch!Head to this link to see how we've been responding to Canine Influenza in shelter and working to keep it from spreading in the community!https://www.humanerescuealliance.org/blog/posts/what-you-need-to-know-about-canine-influenza
