Story
Tootsie is a 2.5-year-old female King Shepherd/Rottweiler mix, approximately 50–60 lbs. She is energetic, intelligent, and very playful once comfortable with someone. She loves fetch, rolling around in the snow, playing in water (but not baths), bubbles, toys, balls, treats, and outdoor play. She was originally rescued by my mother from a shelter in Akwesasne, NY when she was approximately 3–4 months old. She has been deeply bonded to my mother since then and was used to daily attention, affection, and structured interaction. My mother loved her very deeply and took extensive precautions to manage her safely, including limiting visitors and controlling her environment. Unfortunately my mother recently passed away. Important behavioral information: - Aggressive/reactive toward strangers - Has a bite history/record (2 incidents) - Requires experienced handling with large reactive breeds - Difficult with nail trims - May urinate when scared or highly stressed - Gets car sick Muzzle/handling information: - Comfortable wearing both a mesh muzzle and a hard muzzle - The mesh muzzle alone is not bite-proof due to its open front - I often use both muzzles together for added safety during handling or transport Additional information: - Not spayed - Vaccinations became overdue as of April 5th - No kennel/crate available - Poultry sensitivity/allergy (we avoided chicken and turkey foods and treats when possible) - Approximately 50–60 lbs (last weighed about a year ago) Training/commands: - Knows basic commands including sit, paw, and “around” (turn in a circle) Toosie is currently living in Cornwall, Ontario and current caregiver is willing to transport her within approximately 2 hours for the right placement. Tootsie urgently needs placement by the end of May at the latest. Ideal placement would be with an experienced handler, trainer, or rescue familiar with large reactive dogs who can provide structure, management, and continued training. This is a courtesy listing.
