Story
Meet Daphne 🐾 2 years old • ~40 lbs • Spayed female Daphne is a truly special girl who has overcome an incredibly difficult start to life. She was found locked inside a home where multiple dogs had been living in severe neglect, and heartbreakingly, she was the only one still alive inside the house. Because of this, the world can still feel like a scary place to her. Daphne is a sensitive, gentle soul who needs time, patience, and understanding as she learns that she is safe. In new environments, she can be very unsure — she may freeze, shake, or “pancake” on the leash — but these are signs of fear, not who she truly is. As she begins to feel comfortable, her softer side starts to show. She is dog-friendly and has even done well meeting cats. With time and trust, she shows a quiet, sweet nature and a willingness to connect. Daphne will need a calm, patient home that allows her to move at her own pace and celebrates small victories along the way. Because she is still easily overwhelmed, she would do best in a home with older children (13+) who can respect her space and understand her need for a gentle approach. Daphne isn’t going to be the dog who runs up to greet you on day one — but she is the kind of dog who, over time, will learn to trust you, choose you, and form a deeply meaningful bond. For the right person, helping Daphne bloom will be something truly special. 🐾

Story
Meet Duncan 🐾 6 years old • ~60 lbs • Doberman mix • Neutered male Duncan is a resilient, loyal dog who has come a long way since being rescued from a cruelty case. Despite his rough start, he has held onto a playful spirit and a deep love for his people. One of Duncan’s absolute favorite things in the world is fetch — and he will happily play for as long as you’re willing to throw the ball. If you’re looking for a dog who enjoys interactive play and spending time with his person, Duncan will be right there with you. Duncan already knows “sit” and is eager to learn more. He’s a smart dog who thrives with structure and clear guidance, and he would do best with an owner who enjoys continuing to work with him and help him keep building confidence. Once Duncan trusts you, he becomes a loyal and affectionate companion who loves being around his people. Duncan can be particular about other dogs, so he will need slow introductions and thoughtful management when meeting new canine friends. He may do best as the only dog or with a very compatible match. Recently Duncan had an X-ray on one of his toes after occasionally limping when he plays too hard. The toe appears to be an unusual shape, and our vet recommended monitoring it and rechecking in the coming weeks. At this time it doesn’t slow him down much — especially when a game of fetch is involved. Duncan is looking for a home where he can continue building trust, enjoying playtime, and finally living the safe, happy life he deserves.

Story
Meet Fred 🐾 4–5 years old • ~53 lbs • Neutered male Fred is a gentle, resilient dog with a heart of gold. Rescued from a cruelty case, Fred arrived underweight and showing signs of a very hard life, but he hasn’t let that dull his spirit. Since coming into rescue, he has been steadily learning what it means to feel safe, comfortable, and loved. Fred is submissive and gentle when meeting other dogs, but once he settles in, his playful side starts to come out. He has recently begun showing more interest in toys and play, which has been wonderful to see as his confidence grows. He is a smart boy who is continuing to learn. Fred does well with “sit” (with a little encouragement) and already understands “go lay down,” which sends him to his dog bed in the living room. Fred has also made great progress with cats. After some time adjusting, he has been getting along much better with his foster’s cats and may be able to live in a home with cats, especially confident ones who can set boundaries. He is continuing to build confidence in new situations. Fred has made nice progress on a leash, especially when walking alongside other dogs who help guide him. He is also improving with car rides — he may need a little help getting in and can whine at times, but he is getting more comfortable with practice. Fred does best with structure and guidance. There was one instance where he growled over a high-value toy, but with management and separation, there have been no ongoing issues. He continues to do well with clear expectations and supervision. One of Fred’s sweetest traits is how affectionate he is — he loves being petted and will gently nudge you if you stop. He also enjoys the water and would happily splash around if given the chance. Fred is looking for a patient, loving home that will continue helping him build confidence and enjoy the safe, happy life he deserves. In return, he will offer loyalty, sweetness, and a truly special bond. 🐾
