Story
You may call 919-772-2326 to speak to a counselor for more information prior to your visit. The SPCA has an adoption counseling process for adopters to learn adoption guidelines and adoption options. Once upon a literary adventure, I'm Miya - a feline heroine with an independent spirit and a story waiting to be understood. Like a complex character in a novel, I have layers of depth that aren't immediately apparent. My narrative is one of quiet resilience, where each page turn reveals a bit more about my intricate personality. I'm not your typical cuddle companion, but more like a rare manuscript waiting for the right reader who understands nuance and respects personal boundaries. My ideal chapter begins in a tranquil environment where I can explore at my own pace, preferably with a patient human who appreciates subtle communication. Think of me as a poetry collection - best appreciated slowly, with gentle attention and respect for my personal space. While I might not immediately offer affection, I'm developing my own unique narrative of trust, one careful moment at a time. How did I get here? Transferred from Wake County Animal Center; Adopted & returned when my owner was allergic to me. **I am currently living at the admission center - please fill out a survey and select a phone appointment to complete the adoption process. Once that process is complete, your adoption specialist will schedule a time for you to meet me in person!**~My adoption fee is $65.00.~Many adoptions will take approximately 1 hour or more. Adoption requirements and tips to speed up the adoption process: Please be able to provide a valid photo I.D. with your current address (If your I.D. does not reflect your current address, bring a piece of mail with your name and address on it) Be able to prove that you are allowed to have a pet where you live (proof of home ownership or a copy of your rental lease including the specific pet policy) Bring along all members of your household, including dogs for an introduction to a new dog. However, we do recommend meeting with an adoption counselor before involving children in the pet selection process. To avoid longer wait times, we strongly recommended that dog-to-dog meetings take place after 1:00pm. Participate in adoption counseling process to learn adoption guidelines and adoption options. Adoption Fees: Dogs & Puppies: $115.00 Cats & Kittens: $95.00 Rabbits: $50.00 Adoption fees include: Basic wellness exam, first vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, microchipping, deworming and flea preventative. All cats and kittens have tested negative for Feline Leukemia (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). All dogs and puppies have received heartworm preventative, and dogs/puppies over the age of six months have been tested for heartworms. All rabbits are spayed or neutered. Understand that the SPCA of Wake County reserves the right to deny an adoption. You may call 919-772-2326 to speak to a counselor for more information prior to your visit. August 25, 2026, 12:15 am

Good with kids, Not good with cats, House-trained,
Story
Elly is a sweet, gentle and loving cat that likes attention and to sit in your lap. She is shy at first but will want to sit in your lap once she gets to know you. She has lots of energy, runs and can jump up on the kitchen counter. She likes to spend time on my screen porch but she is an indoor cat and does not roam freely outside. She likes to scratch on scratching poles and sleep on chairs or beds. She will be 15 in December and I have had her since December 2019. She eats only wet food for her digestive health because she has trouble digesting dry food. I feed her Blue Buffalo Duck and Sheba chicken and turkey pate and her give purified water to keep her healthy. She is a Russian Blue which are one of th healthiest breeds and frequently live to be 20+ yrs. Her urinary and bowel movements are normal and she is not on any medications. She likes to be the only cat in the house and does not get along well with other cats.I would like to find her a loving, caring and affectionate home.

Good with cats,
Story
Say hello to Louis Armstrong, a handsome Russian Blue mix born May 15, 2026! Louis is gentle, sweet, loving, and playful-and he absolutely adores his people. He loves all the toys, especially wand toys, and his favorite pastime is ambushing his siblings, Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald, for an impromptu wrestling match. Do not let his size fool you-Louis may be the smallest of his litter, but he has plenty of personality and is not afraid to hold his own! He's also a total lovebug. Louis loves being around his people and will even wait at the door for you to come home. If you are looking for a sweet, playful little companion with a big heart, Louis Armstrong might just be your guy. He is current on vaccines and his adoption fee will include his future neuter and microchip. Reach out to adopt@carolinapaws.com to meet Louis Armstrong! We only accept Adoption Applications within a certain radius of where are volunteers are based. Currently, we are able to accept applications from Mecklenburg and Union counties (NC), and parts of Cabarrus (NC), Lancaster (SC), and York (SC) counties
