WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care.
Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.
NAME: Scout
BREED: Saluki
DOB: 7/21/23
HOME RECOMMENDATION: Scout thrives best in a home with a fenced yard where he can run and play. Due to his timid nature, he may not do well in busy areas and would like to be a suburban pup. Scout is happiest when in the company of his people who will shower him in love!
PERSONALITY: Scout is a very sweet and gentle boy who loves being close to his family. He has a good balance between playtime and relaxation. Scout is friendly and happy, although he can be a little shy at times but warms up quickly. He is gentle when taking treats, toys, and food. Scout enjoys playing with stuffed animals, fetching (even though he's not the best catcher, he will always bring the ball back), going for walks, and engaging with treat-dispensing challenge toys like Kongs. He loves to spend time outside in nature
DOGS: Scout is friendly with other dogs and would enjoy having playmates.
CATS: Yes, he has lived with cats before
KIDS: Yes, he has been with young kids and does well!
TRAINING:Scout is still a puppy and continues to learn. He is working on his leash training, preferring to walk side by side. Scout is also learning commands like "come" and will happily learn more if treats are involved. He is making progress with house training, and with a consistent schedule he will learn fast. He sleeps on the couch when alone or in the bed and can be left alone for a few hours, but it's best to put away any tempting items due to his young age.
WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Scout was surrendered to WISE after his owners had a change in living circumstances and realized their environment was not best suited for Scout. Despite this, he is doing well and eager to find his forever family!
