You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. KATIE was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. She along with her 7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 Katie is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 2 September 2021 and at the time of transport weighed around 36 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. KATIE is such a sweet, gentle soul who is settling in well after the long and I am sure scary trip from Oman to the US. She shares a kennel with her Omani friends Myrtle and Phoenix and is starting to get more comfortable and coming out of her shell more. She loves having her neck and ears scratched and is just so desperate for snuggles and all the affection that she deserves and needs. Her sighthound breed whilst they do need an active lifestyle, they tend to have bursts of energy and so a family that can ensure she goes on adventures and the opportunity to run and enjoy burning of that energy.  We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue   YouTube channel   and   photo albums on our Facebook page    to see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. He has an estimated date of birth of 21 November 2022 and at the time of transport weighed around 35 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. Alma is such a gentle and sweet boy, he is a little wary at first, but having been through all he has leaving his rescue in Oman and traveling to the US is a huge change. After just a few days, he has settled in great, he gets excited when I go over to the kennels, will now take treats, very gently, shares a kennel with two other dogs and does great. One of his kennel mates, CHIP a young cattle dog is really helping to bring him out of his shell, teaching him to play and having him curious in the toys and chews. He sleeps snuggled up with, I feel he gets a lot of comfort with Chips typical cattle dog confidence. ALMA is thin, although being the kind of breed, a sighthound mix, he will not need to gain much more weight, but a few extra pounds would have him at a healthy weight. FLISS was really scared when she first arrived and wanted to keep her distance, which considering all that she has been through leaving her country and rescue and arriving in America is to be expected. She shares a kennel with her amputee friend, KAI who has helped her settle and gain confidence and within just a few days she was charging around playing with him and has been letting me pet her and rub her neck and scratch her ears, which she really likes. She will most likely be scared when going to her new home, as most dogs are so we are looking for a family who understands and can be patient and give her time to adapt.  Sight hounds do need a good amount of exercise, they tend to have bursts of energy, like Greyhounds and so a relatively active family is needed and one that can give her the lifestyle that she needs and deserves to thrive. PHOENIX is the youngest of the dogs that came over from OMAN and he has settled in great. He shares a kennel with his Omani friends, Myrtle (who keeps in him in check) and KATIE (who he has a crush on lol). He is very affectionate, gentle, playful, he found the toy basket almost straight away and enjoys getting them all out and playing or chewing on them. He doesn't like sharing all the time and will let the other dog know with a low growl that it is his food or toy, but has never escalated to anything other than appropriate communicating. He gets super excited when I go over to the kennels, he loves having lots of neck and ear scratches, cuddles and kisses. He will need a family that has an active lifestyle and can give him all that he deserves and needs to thrive. He will in return give you all the love he has, so many giggles with his goofy antics and lots of wonderful memories to be made. Bruno is a happy boy with a sunny personality and a full body wiggle, but he lacks confidence with humans he doesn’t know so well! We have shown this sweet pup to quite a few potential adopters but he has always been too nervous to interact. Bruno is great with other dogs, so we think another pup would be just the thing to make Bruno feel more secure in a new home, and help him shine. Bruno will need to be adopted to a family with a fenced in yard.

Manny is a handsome guy with a great personality. He loves to run and play. Although he definitely enjoys the company of other dogs, some dogs will tolerate his antics, and some will not. Any interaction between him and other dogs would need to be supervised until it is certain everyone gets along. Like many sighthounds, Manny has a high small prey drive, so potential adopters would need to be mindful of that on walks. He would probably love running critters or birds out of vegetable gardens or vineyards! When he is not running or playing, Manny is perfectly content to be stretched out on a couch snoozing.
