Story
Manny is a handsome guy with a great personality. He loves to run and play. Although he definitely enjoys the company of other dogs, some dogs will tolerate his antics, and some will not. Any interaction between him and other dogs would need to be supervised until it is certain everyone gets along. Like many sighthounds, Manny has a high small prey drive, so potential adopters would need to be mindful of that on walks. He would probably love running critters or birds out of vegetable gardens or vineyards! When he is not running or playing, Manny is perfectly content to be stretched out on a couch snoozing.

Story
Bruno is a happy boy with a sunny personality and a full body wiggle, but he lacks confidence with humans he doesn’t know so well! We have shown this sweet pup to quite a few potential adopters but he has always been too nervous to interact. Bruno is great with other dogs, so we think another pup would be just the thing to make Bruno feel more secure in a new home, and help him shine. Bruno will need to be adopted to a family with a fenced in yard.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sindari recently arrived from Oman and is a Wadi dog. Wadi dogs are from the wadis (dry riverbeds) of Oman.  They are typically stray dogs that live in groups and are generally non-aggressive survivors who avoid police interdiction. They are believed to be a mix of Saluki and other sighthound types. Sindari is striking in appearance and on the small side. She lived with cats and dogs at her foster in Oman and gets along well with either.  She walks nicely on leash.  She is a friendly little girl.  Sindari is 2 years old. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 12, 2024, 4:44 pm

Story
Mason is a Wadi dog from Oman. Greyhound Friends of NJ has partnered with a rescue in Oman to save these community dogs. The dogs are viewed as vermin. They are driven off or worse. GFNJ.org has saved 6 Wadi dogs. Foster homes have been teaching them English and the comforts of living inside. Most are skittish, wary personalities. However, given enough time and space to decompress, these dogs are, ultimately, dogs. They like people who feed them. They are food motivated. The best way to train a dog is to pair food (good thing) with behavior we want to see. Classical conditioning. I call it love and support and allowing the inner dog to shine through their fear and confusion. Love and patience conquers most shy dogs. For more information, please go to GFNJ.org website. Thank you, Stephanie - PPPR, President and Foster human for Mason.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. FLISS was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. She along with her 7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 Fliss is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 2 September 2021 and at the time of transport weighed around 42 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. FLISS was really scared when she first arrived and wanted to keep her distance, which considering all that she has been through leaving her country and rescue and arriving in America is to be expected. She shares a kennel with her amputee friend, KAI who has helped her settle and gain confidence and within just a few days she was charging around playing with him and has been letting me pet her and rub her neck and scratch her ears, which she really likes. She will most likely be scared when going to her new home, as most dogs are so we are looking for a family who understands and can be patient and give her time to adapt.  Sight hounds do need a good amount of exercise, they tend to have bursts of energy, like Greyhounds and so a relatively active family is needed and one that can give her the lifestyle that she needs and deserves to thrive. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue    YouTube channel   and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. Fliss is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a reduced adoption fee of $550. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - As the dogs are in the kennels, we are not able to say how they are with cats.
