Story
Luna (A133844) is an Alaskan Malamute x Husky mix who weighed just under 50 pounds on intake! 04/29/24 Luna, previously known as Nikita, is back at the shelter because she was not meshing well with the other female dog in the home. Luna was said to do great at the dog park but may prefer being the only dog in her home. She was said to be unbothered by cats. Please ensure you are doing slow, safe, and controlled introductions with all new friends for the best chance at a positive introduction! Luna was said to do fabulous with people and loved meeting new friends of all ages! Luna was said to be partially kennel-trained and housebroken. She was known to howl when in a kennel and would run in circles when she needed to go outside to go potty. In typical husky fashion, Luna was known to be quite the talker. Overall this girl was described as an outgoing, friendly, and affectionate girl! She is looking for the perfect place to call home! Luna was seen by the shelter vet and treated for a minor skin infection on her nose but is in the clear to be adopted! If you are interested in meeting Luna, please let us know! 03/12/24 Nikita was surrendered to the shelter with her ½ brother Schinook because their prior owner could no longer physically care for them. Nikita and Schinook were said to be best buds and might enjoy going to a home together. We are not requiring that they be adopted together but if you have the space for 2 big fluffy pups, please consider this duo! Both Nikita and Schinook were said to be housebroken, ride well in a car, and know some basic commands! We do encourage their next owner to continue with their training. Nikita and Schinook were said to great with everybody they have met but do not have any real experience with babies or children. We have noticed that Nikita is a tad more shy. They did come from a home with small dogs but were said to have a high prey drive. We think they would do best in a home without any small critters. Please ensure you are doing appropriate introductions with all new animals. Both Nikita and Schinook are big active dogs. They are looking for a home that can keep them both mentally and physically stimulated. When bored they were known to get into trouble by digging, chewing, and scratching. We also encourage their next owner to work on kennel training and making that a safe and positive space for them! If you are interested in meeting Nikita or possibly both Nikita and Schinook, please let us know! May 4, 2024, 11:22 pm

Story
Nala (A124248) is a 3-year-old akita who weighed almost 60lbs at intake!05/03/24 Sweet little miss Nala is back at the shelter because her breed was restricted in her previous owners' new housing. Nala is a wonderfully social girl who is said to be kennel trained and housebroken. She was said to be gentle with babies and to love kids! Nala is said to be friendly with everyone, and she likes to play with other dogs and even pocket pets! Nala was said to tolerate cats, but it would appear they are not her favorite. She was said to ride well in the car and was described as being outgoing, friendly and affectionate. If you are itnerested in meeting this young girl, please give the shelter a call!07/15/21 This beautiful little pup is Nala. Nala was surrendered to the shelter with her two siblings because the owner had too many animals and was unable to care for them. If you are not familiar with the Akita breed we strongly recommend you to do research prior to adopting. These guys can be quite stubborn and need early and intensive training and socialization to be on their best behavior, as they will soon grow into large and strong adults! These puppies have been friendly with their animal tenders but will need all the basic puppy training such as obedience, kennel training, and potty training. If you are interested in meeting one of the puppies please give the shelter a call!May 4, 2024, 11:22 pm
