Story
Hi, I'm Curacao! I'm a playful, fluffy guy who loves games of chase, tug-of-war, splashing in the water, and then relaxing like a true couch potato after all the fun. I already know cues like sit, lay down, and shake, and I'm always ready to show them off. I enjoy taking in the views while cruising in a car, but I'm a strong walker who's looking for someone who can help guide me on my adventures. If you're searching for a fun-loving companion with a big personality and an even bigger heart, I can't wait to meet you

Story
Meet Rocky 🤍 Rocky is a stunning, confident samoyed/husky (we think) who has already beaten the odds. He was part of a group of 5-6 dogs surviving together in a park until a kind woman stepped in and saved not just him—but his two companions, Jett and Frannie. Rocky naturally took on the role of leader for the trio. He’s confident, aware, and looks out for his friends—but he’s not pushy or difficult. With people, he’s affectionate, social, and loves attention. He’s the kind of dog that turns heads everywhere he goes and then wins hearts the second you meet him. He walks well on leash, enjoys being out and about, and truly thrives when he has a person to connect with. At home, he’s a big, cuddly husky who would happily relax near you after getting his exercise. Rocky does well with other dogs, especially those with more easygoing or non-dominant personalities. Because he’s used to being the leader, he does best with dogs who don’t challenge him. Rocky is bonded with Jett and closely connected to Frannie, and it would be incredible to see him adopted with Jett, or even all three together. That said, we understand that’s a big ask, and Rocky can be placed on his own in the right home. Rocky will need a home that understands the breed—he’s active, intelligent, and will need proper exercise, structure, and a secure yard (he can be an escape artist if bored or under-stimulated). What you’ll get in return is a truly special dog—loyal, engaging, and full of personality. Best case: Rocky + Jett Dream case: Rocky + Jett + Frannie Also possible: Rocky as a single dog in the right home Rocky has already made it through so much. Now he just needs someone to say yes. This is a courtesy post: He is located in Central Ca, and can be transported up to 8 hours away for the perfect home. Please contact his foster mom, Laura at 650-400-7696

He is a pretty outgoing pet and he gets along with other pets and kid as well. The only thing is that he is kinda old and one of his rear leg is too old to support him standing up a lot.

UPDATE 8/12: At the time of our first plea for Buddy on 8/4, we could not safely walk Buddy out of his kennel for enrichment or adoption interest. Some good news… he has since gotten out on a few occasions! One such occasion was for shelter playgroup. While Buddy did not show any interest in playing with other dogs, he eventually loosened up to accept greetings and did not require any corrections. Buddy also came out of his kennel for an adoption show! Buddy was tolerant of meeting new people with no growling, barking, or lunging, despite being uncomfortable. We were so proud! In his previous home, Buddy displayed challenges with resource guarding both space and objects, and had difficulties meeting strangers. Buddy’s former owner did seek help from a professional trainer, and they made some progress with trading for high value objects, ultimately his owner did not feel comfortable keeping him… especially following the passing of a loved one. Buddy’s behavior also makes grooming difficult, and he is not able to be groomed at a salon, but allowed for baths at home in the past. Leashing and taking Buddy out of his kennel has still been tricky, but luckily he has a special team of volunteer handlers who are working hard to make it a more positive experience! We are hopeful that Buddy can learn better manners and basic life skills with training, structure, and time. We are reaching out to the community and our rescue partners as we think Buddy`s best shot of finding permanent placement will be with someone who recognizes he’s more than just an perfect, adorable, precious fluffy face, and is willing to put in the work needed to help him thrive as a safe and respectful pup. VCAS may be able to assist with some post-adoption support! Transfer to a rescue partner or experienced adopter is preferred. Buddy’s placement options are limited, so please let us know ASAP if you can help.Adopters, please inquire at animal.care@ventura.org with Buddy A885341. Information about the human/animal members of your household and any relevant experience is always appreciated. Rescue groups can reach out vcar.rescue@ventura.org!8/3: This animal is currently receiving additional evaluation and/or care due to behavioral concerns including reports of aggression towards people and resource guarding by a previous owner. This person sought assistance from a professional trainer, but ultimately felt Buddy was a safety risk and was not comfortable keeping o
