Meet Thyme 10 years old • Beagle Mix • FemaleThyme may be a senior, but she’s still got plenty of spunk and charm to share! This sweet old gal loves life’s simple pleasures—rolling in the grass, flopping on the carpet for a good wiggle, and soaking up belly rubs.Thyme is a social butterfly who gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, kids, and adults alike. She’s mostly blind, but she navigates well in a well-lit space and doesn’t let it slow her down. Short, easy walks are just her speed, and after some activity she’s content to rest and observe the world around her.She’s not the snuggliest pup, but she more than makes up for it with her gentle personality and funny little quirks. At night, Thyme sleeps soundly, and during the day she’ll clearly let you know when it’s time for a potty break.Because she can be a bit of a talker—especially when she’s feeling a little confused or just wants to share her thoughts—an apartment might not be the best fit. A home where her voice won’t bother the neighbors would be ideal.Thyme is a truly wonderful girl, full of character and heart, who’s ready to bring joy, laughter, and love to her forever family. Could that be you?Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $100. Story
Trixie is a special needs basset. Rescued dogs frequently arrive with a lot of unanswered questions. We and our vets think Trixie was born with a condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia or CH. A part of her brain did not fully develop leaving her with balance issues, difficulty judging distance, and clumsiness to the point where walking is really not an option for her. Even with all her challenges, she is able to get around the house and navigate a couple of steps. She can pretty much get anywhere she wants to go. After trying Trixie in both a 2- and 4-wheel cart, we have started to investigate a modified cart specifically for CH dogs. She is too wobbly to use the 2- and 4-wheel carts. Aside from this condition, Trixie is happy and healthy. She does great with other dogs (although she doesn't play) and is expected to have a normal lifespan. Our vet suggests that her coordination could benefit from some regular physical therapy. We plan to start that just after the first of the year when things slow down a bit. Jake is an older gentleman with a great mellow personality. He still likes to walk and enjoys short play sessions with other dogs. More than anything else, he loves to just hang out with his people. He is good with dogs and people and is house trained to use a doggie door.
