Needs special attention,
Story
Trixie is a special needs basset. Rescued dogs frequently arrive with a lot of unanswered questions. We and our vets think Trixie was born with a condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia or CH. A part of her brain did not fully develop leaving her with balance issues, difficulty judging distance, and clumsiness to the point where walking is really not an option for her. Even with all her challenges, she is able to get around the house and navigate a couple of steps. She can pretty much get anywhere she wants to go. After trying Trixie in both a 2- and 4-wheel cart, we have started to investigate a modified cart specifically for CH dogs. She is too wobbly to use the 2- and 4-wheel carts. Aside from this condition, Trixie is happy and healthy. She does great with other dogs (although she doesn't play) and is expected to have a normal lifespan. Our vet suggests that her coordination could benefit from some regular physical therapy. We plan to start that just after the first of the year when things slow down a bit. If you are interested in Trixie, please give UFBH a call and/or fill out the application and talk with us about her condition.

Story
Cash is a troubled young basset hound. In spite of his handsome exterior, he is full of issues. We're not sure what his background was like but he is reactive to any kind of discipline. He will require a very seasoned dog owner; a patient person to be able to safely handle this guy. He will need someone that can read his body language and respond accordingly. He can be sweet and loving or suddenly feel challenged and react with hostility. Absolutely NO CHILDREN.

Story
This cheerful boy will win your heart with his happy smile. About seven years old, Kody is just starting his senior years and is a low-key fellow with his golden years ahead to share with the right person. He is friendly but doesn't need constant attention. A calm and independent boy who is content to simply be with his people, smelling all the smells, and enjoying the occasional roll in the grass or dirt. Life is full of simple pleasures and Kody knows how to appreciate them.Kody is a big, tri-color Basset boy who came to the rescue quite overweight. Although he has slimmed down some, he'll need help from his new people to manage his weight. Kody was heartworm positive when he arrived but has completed treatment and is heartworm free! He can resource guard food so he needs a home that can carefully manage food and feeding times to help him avoid negative behaviors. A home without small children would be best. Kody would likely do well as an only dog or with an easy-going canine sibling. This happy guy will make an amazing companion for the right person. Could that be you?

Story
Shirley (with blue eyes) and LaVerne are a bonded pair; pretty much sisters! They were rescued while living on their own and trying to survive the wild coyotes that were attacking them. In spite of this horrible experience, both are loving and friendly with both people and other dogs. LaVerne and Shirley will need to be adopted together. LaVerne is also heartworm positive and will need a home that can help her through that treatment. (UFBH will cover cost of her treatment.) These are two very special girls who will bring much love and Basset-ness to any home they join.

Story
Cora, a sweet older Beagle/Basset mix--a 'Bagel' as she is affectionately called, would love a quiet spot in a home with a family of her own. Cora has more Beagle characteristics than Basset and she will add that special 'old dog' love to a family. Cora, like most seniors, would appreciate a quieter home and is eligible for our Forever Foster Program. You give her a loving home and Utah Friends of Basset Hounds helps cover necessary expenses! It's a win-win.

Story
Bear is a very well-adjusted older Basset mix with good manners and he is house trained to use a doggie door. He may need a little direction if you don't have a dog door, but will learn quickly; especially if he has another dog to follow. This sweet old guy would be happiest living with another dog. If you're looking for a wonderful mellow addition to your family, Bear is the one for you!

Story
It wasn’t the plan but it's absolute perfection that Abbie rhymes with happy. This girl is still on the young side, not quiet a puppy, far from being and adult but she sure knows a thing or two. Her current specialty is knowing how to perfectly sit at your feet, make you smile and then fill you up with love. Her happy-go-lucky way is so contagious! With rescue we are often left guessing a dogs age and breed, and that is true with Abbie. We believe she is about 8 months old and is some sort of hound/bully mix. She currently weighs 50lbs and still has some growing to do so you can expect her to grow into a medium/large dog. Every ounce of her is ready for the good life, one with you at the end of her leash, going on hikes, greeting all the people with her. happy face and then heading home for an all our love and cuddle session. Before you fall in love, she does want you to know, her love of stuffies/plushies is real and will be coming with her into adulthood. As long as you are supportive and encouraging of this, she will be the best girl and when you are not available for snuggles she will simply snuggle a love until you are free. We would love to see Abbie in a home with a yard given her youthful energy and love of play. She gets along well with other dogs and absolutely gravitates to the playful ones but truthfully, her love tank could easily be filled by the love of her people. She is a social girl so when you have parties, be ready for all your guests to be enamored with Abbie as she works the room and looks adoringly at each of them. If you have a cat, Abbie promises to be respectful and take it slow. When she met our house cat Tom she was respectfully fearful of him and when she did work up the courage, she retreated quickly when he gave her a swat. We feel confident that she could live harmoniously with a feline friend. Abbie is young and will need continued work on her leash skills and crate training but her attentiveness and desire to please will make training and obedience a breeze. Consistency, a handful of treats and your adoring praise will have this girl ready for anything. Adopt Abbie and get started on those party tricks and making all the best memories together! Please email : Kristin@threelittlepittiesrescue.org with any questions. This is the feedback we tend to get, although we cannot guarantee perfect health. *To fully vet a dog in the PNW at many vets it would be upwards of $1,800 just to fix, vaccinate, chip, etc. The adoption fees charged by our rescue do not cover our expenses medically for each animal, but we offset costs with donations. Your adoption fee is considered a donation towards actual costs. Why adopt from Three Little Pitties? The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it! Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks: • 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.) • A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week) • One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan • 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan • Coupons for a fun visit to Petco • Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! We celebrated our 5 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes. Follow our rescue journey through the links below! https://www.threelittlepittiesrescue.org/ https://www.facebook.com/threelittlepittiesrescue https://www.instagram.com/threelittlepittiesrescue *Due to the rising cost of fuel and transportation expenses, there will be an additional $62 surcharge for transport. DISCLAIMER- Breed type is determined based on general appearance and behavioral characteristics, and cannot be guaranteed unless DNA test results or AKC registration were provided at intake.
