And he’s so beautiful. So, be ready for everyone to stop and ask you about him.Itto is an exuberantly loving dog. He came to us from a high kill shelter where he beat all the odds to survive. He came with a torn ACL and is currently in recovery from surgery to repair it. He is hoping to be ready for his new family by Thanksgiving.Itto would be best in a home without cats and no children under 13. He would do best in a calm and quiet household where he can build confidence at his own pace. Willy is heartworm positive, and we'd love for him to begin treatment in the comfort of a foster or forever home. Utah Friends of Basset Hounds will cover all of his treatment costs—all Willy needs is someone willing to give him the safe, loving home he deserves while he heals.Willy is ready to share his big heart—and his big voice—with a family of his own.

Trixie is a special needs basset. Rescued dogs frequently arrive with a lot of unanswered questions. We and our vets think Trixie was born with a condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia or CH. A part of her brain did not fully develop leaving her with balance issues, difficulty judging distance, and clumsiness to the point where walking is really not an option for her. Even with all her challenges, she is able to get around the house and navigate a couple of steps. She can pretty much get anywhere she wants to go. After trying Trixie in both a 2- and 4-wheel cart, we have started to investigate a modified cart specifically for CH dogs. She is too wobbly to use the 2- and 4-wheel carts. Aside from this condition, Trixie is happy and healthy. She does great with other dogs (although she doesn't play) and is expected to have a normal lifespan. Our vet suggests that her coordination could benefit from some regular physical therapy. We plan to start that just after the first of the year when things slow down a bit. If you are interested in Trixie, please give UFBH a call and/or fill out the application and talk with us about her condition.

He tested positive for heartworm and has already received treatment, but unfortunately his case has been resistant and he'll need additional care. Cash is a troubled young basset hound. In spite of his handsome exterior, he is full of issues. We're not sure what his background was like but he is reactive to any kind of discipline. He will require a very seasoned dog owner; a patient person to be able to safely handle this guy. He will need someone that can read his body language and respond accordingly. He can be sweet and loving or suddenly feel challenged and react with hostility. Absolutely NO CHILDREN.

Victor is one of two "Bagel" (Beagle/Basset mix) boys that came to us after being abandoned on the side of a road. A fellow rescuer saw him and his friend literally dumped out of a car in front of her. Both boys are safe and sound now and ready to meet their Forever Family. At first, we thought they were bonded but it turns out they don't actually like each other at all. Victor is great with other dogs and people; charming and fun to have around!
