Story
Location: Cochrane, AB // Age: Approx 13 years old // Sex: Male (neuter booked June 10) // Energy Level: Low // Dogs: Yes, small calm dogs // Cats: Untested, likely fine // Kids: No // Looking for a tiny shadow with a huge heart? Torey might just be your guy. 💛 At 13 years young, Torey is a sweet, affectionate senior who forms deep bonds with his person and wants nothing more than to be by your side. Once he feels safe, this little man becomes the ultimate velcro dog—following you from room to room, curling up close, and happily claiming your pillow as his nighttime spot. He’s the kind of companion who loves hard and leans fully into his person. Torey is searching for a very special foster-to-adopt home while we complete his vetting that understands senior dogs aren’t “less” — they’re just a little more specific. He thrives best in a calm, quiet household with someone home often, as routine and companionship help him feel secure. He does experience anxiety and can be vocal when he wants attention (he has perfected the art of the attention bark 🎤), so detached housing or a home where noise could be an issue would likely not be the best fit. This loving little senior currently takes daily calming medication, which has helped him settle, and he’ll need an adopter who is compassionate and committed to continuing the care that helps him feel his best. He also has some mild age-related health considerations, including a heart murmur that doesn’t currently require medication but should be monitored as he ages—pretty normal for many senior pups, but important nonetheless. He has had a full dental recently 🩺 Torey would do best in: 🏡 A calm, low-traffic home. 🛋️ Someone home often (retirees, work-from-home, or homebodies would be ideal). 🐶 Calm dogs are okay. 🐱 Cats are likely okay. 🚫 No young children. 💛 An adopter who understands patience, anxiety, and senior dog care. Torey may be nervous at first and can be a little grumpy when scared, but beneath that anxious exterior is an incredibly loving dog who simply wants to feel safe. Give him time, understanding, and consistency, and you’ll gain a fiercely devoted best friend who will absolutely steal your heart. He may be in his golden years, but Torey still has so much love left to give. We’re looking for someone willing to give this special boy the soft landing he deserves. Story
These two adorable girls have officially joined Ruff Start Rescue and are settling into their temporary foster home while they prepare for their upcoming spay surgeries. Ellie (approximately 7 lbs) and Pumpkin (approximately 20 lbs) are around 10 months old and full of life! They are playful, active, friendly, and absolutely love having fun. Both girls get along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and respectful children. Because they can get excited and jump up when greeting people, we feel a home with children aged 5+ would be the best fit. These sweethearts are NOT hypoallergenic and are looking for a family that can embrace their energetic, happy personalities. They would thrive in an active home where they can enjoy regular walks, playtime, training, and plenty of attention. They especially love playing with other dogs and would do best with canine companions who enjoy wrestling and romping as much as they do. Older, quieter dogs may find these girls a little overwhelming! Ellie and Pumpkin do bark, so a detached home with a secure yard where they can run, play, and explore would be ideal. Most importantly, they would love to stay together. These best friends have spent their entire lives side by side, and we'd love to find a family willing to open their hearts and home to both of them. These girls deserve a fun, active lifestyle where they'll be cherished, included in family adventures, and spoiled the way every rescue dog should be. ❤️ Ellie and Pumpkin will soon be looking for a foster-to-adopt home. If you think you could be the perfect match for this lovable duo, please complete an adoption application: https://www.ruffstartanimalrescue.com/dog-application-form
