Story
Hey Hoomans; thanks for dropping by my site. My name is Macchiato and I am an almost 4 year old, male, purebred, tan yellow/fawn colored Shiba Inu who is in the market for a new forever home. I previously had a home with a very nice owner, but my owner had some changes take place in their life and they were no longer able to take care of me. So, he brought me here to Golden Paws to find a new forever home and Hooman. The folks here say that I am a “good dog.” I know how to do a lot of things. I know how to walk on a leash, which I love to do, and some basic commands, like sit and stay. I also love to be outside with my hooman person. I get along great with other animals and Hoomans as well. My only real hang up is that I don’t like to be messed with while I’m trying to eat. At that time, it’s probably best to leave me alone. Also, I’m not quite sure what to do with children. I like to watch them play, but I would prefer not to play with them myself. Maybe after I get to know them better. The folks here at Golden Paws say I tend to be a little on the independent side sometimes. Of course, that’s not unusual for my breed. They also say that I am brutally handsome, but you can see that from my photos. I do try not to get a swelled head about it though. So what do you say? I’ve had all my shots, I have been neutered, and I’m ready to travel. Fill out an application and come on in for a visit. After we spend some time together, I think you’ll find that I’m the one you’ll be wanting to take home. I hope to see you soon in Joplin. Love, Macchiato. Story
Hello folks! Thank you for stopping by my website. My name is Lori, and I am a 4-year-old, female red, Shiba Inu female who is looking for her forever home and family of hoomans. I am a purebred and weigh about 25 lbs. If you look at my photographs, you will see that I look something like a fox. For those of you who are not familiar with us, my breed comes from Japan, with my ancestors arriving there at least 2300 years ago. We were raised by the Japanese to be medium sized hunting dogs, with a great personality and bold spirit. They think so much of us that in 1936, we were officially designated a National Natural Monument of Japan. I will admit that when I first arrived here, I was somewhat bashful.. I have always been a little reserved with people at first. I always like to know how deep the water is before I jump in. The folks here tell me that that’s the reason I tend to get overlooked by folks at adoption time. However,. once I get to know you, I’m just a big cuddle bug. When I’m really glad to see you, I go into my spinning routine, where I spin until you sit down by me. I am also well-mannered and very neat in my personal appearance, as well as my own little spot here at Golden Paws Rescue. I really think I’m one of the favorites of the folks here I love hoomans, and other dogs as well. So, what do you say? I’ve had all my shots, I have been spayed, and I’m ready for my furever home and family of hoomans. Fill out an application and come on down for a visit. Now, don’t be surprised if when you first get here, I’m a little shy. Like I said, I need to be with you for a few minutes and see what makes you tick before I warm up... After all, you’re coming down to see what makes me tick too, right? After that, we can pack my stuff up and head out to our new home together. I hope to see you here soon. Story
Hello Hoomans: My name is Dipsy and I am a 3 year old, male, Pomeranian/ Chihuahua mix. I am looking for a forever home with a forever hooman inside. I am tan, yellow and fawn in color and am small; less than 25 lbs. I have had all my shots and have been neutered. I am also good with other dogs. As I mentioned, I am looking for a forever home but, more importantly, I need a SPECIAL forever hooman to be my best friend and support. You see, I have a terrible fear of hoomans that you will need to help me confront and change. I really don’t know when or why I developed this fear and neither do the hoomans here at Golden Paws Animal Rescue. Even if I did know, I couldn’t speak to them with words to tell them. But, like all dogs, I can tell them a lot without words. There’s one person here that I can tell things to in various ways and they seem to understand. I talk to them with my eyes and my body language, my movements and even the energy I give off. Sometimes my language is very subtle and a little hard to read. Likewise, I can tell a lot about what a hooman is thinking by the expression on their face and their body movements. Even a hooman’s scent can tell me if they are afraid or not. If they are afraid, sometimes I think I should be afraid too, and it just makes things worse. So I need a hooman who either lives alone or maybe a couple. I’m not able to live with children at this time, not even teenagers. They mean well, but they can’t read my messages. They move too suddenly and frighten me. My hooman will need to be experienced in handling a dog who’s afraid of hoomans. Someone who is not a first time dog handler and someone who can cope with a dog who, out of fear, may try to run away. I understand that I am asking a lot of my forever hooman. You must be someone who understands that I am a dog, not a hooman and that my psychology is different; someone who loves dogs and is able to bond with them. I need a hooman with nearly in-hooman patience. Someone who believes a life shouldn’t be thrown away because of problems that aren’t their fault; someone who didn’t stop reading. My story halfway through. Someone Like You! So please fill out an application, and come in for a visit. Don’t be hurt if I pull back or don’t race over to see you. And if you are the kind of person who has gone that far, let’s try to “Get er done!” Hopefully, Dipsy “The one absolutely unselfish friend that a man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is the dog. “ Senator George G Vest (Mo.)
