Hemi is a 14-lb poodle/Shih Tzu mix with a gentle and sweet nature. He can be a bit shy and timid at first, especially in new environments, but he has a loving heart that just needs time to feel safe and secure. Once he starts to settle in, his personality slowly begins to shine through. Hemi may do best in a home with another friendly, confident dog who can help him learn the ropes and feel more comfortable as he adjusts. With patience, consistency, and a calm environment, Hemi will continue to gain confidence and grow into a more relaxed and trusting companion. He’s looking for an understanding home willing to give him the time he needs to truly flourish. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly.
