The majority of the dogs we rescue, mostly breeder dogs, have lived their entire lives in less-than-ideal conditions so will need to be socialized, house and leash trained. Most have never lived in a house, walked on a leash, had a treat or sat in a lap. For many of them, their feet have never touched the ground after living for years on wire until they arrive at our main facility where they are evaluated, groomed and given vet care. Most of these dogs are not socialized and need to be cornered to be picked up, so are not suitable for people with physical disabilities or suffer from PTSD. They need folks who will make them the center of their world and help them learn to trust before even attempting to train.  Please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements of the dogs we rescue.  However, they will learn with time, love, patience and most of all, commitment. You must have an ample supply of all of these to reap the rewards of watching these very special dogs become your wonderful companion. We state any known health issues, all are altered unless there is a medical reason not to, which we will advise, any known medical issues addressed, are microchipped, are UTD on all vaccines and have been checked out by at least one veterinarian, usually two. We do not guarantee the health of any of our rescued dogs. The dogs we rescue have lived with other dogs all of their lives and most get along with other dogs. We state if they are dog aggressive. We require a permanent, full-time parent. That means you must be able to spend the majority of your time with your new companion to socialize and train. We do not, under any circumstances, place them in homes with young children as they have not been exposed to children, and we do not know how they will react. Please do not waste your time or ours if you are not prepared to adopt within 2 weeks and you are not willing to pick the dog up at its location. Hi! My name is Marcus, and I am a little Toy Poodle boy who was born 4/13/21, and I weigh 8 pounds. I am a bit timid with this big new world so a sibling to teach me the ropes would be ideal.  If you have been waiting for a little Poodle boy, please ask for me on your application to http://www.breederadoptions.org. Story
Meet Hank! -I have a heart murmur and will need some ongoing medical care- Hank is an 8-year-old Miniature Poodle weighing just 8 lbs, and he’s ready to find his forever family. This little guy has a big heart and loves nothing more than being with his people. His favorite place in the world? Curled up in a cozy lap, soaking in all the cuddles he can get. Hank enjoys being the center of attention and would thrive in a home where he can be the star. Because he prefers to be the only dog in the household, Hank is looking for a family where he can have all the love (and snuggles!) to himself. A meet and greet at the shelter will be required to ensure it’s a perfect match. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, and cuddly companion, Hank just might be the little lap dog you’ve been searching for. ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly. Being a part of their rehabilitation is a truly rewarding experience. To learn more about mill dogs and start the adoption process, visit our website!

Story
Meet Jaba – A Tiny Pup with a Gentle Heart Jaba is a 3-year-old miniature poodle weighing just 5.8 pounds. He is a very timid, shy, and nervous little guy who is still learning that the world can be a safe and kind place. New environments, people, and sudden movements can easily overwhelm him, so Jaba would do best in a quiet, patient home where expectations are low and love is given freely. He needs someone who understands that building trust takes time and who is willing to move at his pace. With consistency, gentle handling, and plenty of reassurance, Jaba has the potential to come out of his shell and develop a strong bond with a person who makes him feel safe and protected. ---------- Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Story
Meet Thomas – The Friendly Little Gentleman! Thomas is a 7-year-old Miniature Poodle weighing 10.8 pounds, and he’s as sweet as can be. This friendly boy is easy to catch in his kennel and always happy to see people. Out in the open yard, he can be a little trickier to catch — he likes to turn it into a bit of a game — but once in your arms, he’s all affection. Thomas loves other dogs and enjoys spending time in playgroup, making friends wherever he goes. With his gentle nature and loving heart, he’s the kind of dog who’ll bring warmth and joy to any home. ---------- Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet.
