Story
Danny is a natural extrovert, outgoing and friendly - which works out well, because he's so cutely scruffy that everybody wants to meet him! He walked well on the leash today and sat nicely for treats (which he *thoroughly* enjoyed.) Between giving us bumps to ask for more scritches, he happily checked out the parking lot and enjoyed the breeze. Questions About this Animal? Story
Meet Nyx is a Cannoodle (Cane Corso + Labradoodle = pure magic). Nyx is a pro-level snuggle bug, melting into your lap like butter on a biscuit, but don’t think she’s clingy, she’s also a card-carrying member of the doggy social club. She adores hanging with her canine crew and is absolutely “one of the pack.” And cats? Please. She gets along just fine with them… though her foster mom’s cats are basically small lions (three Maine Coons and one normal-sized cat just trying to survive in their shadow). She’s got those subtle brindle streaks that scream “luxury,” the playfulness to turn any room into a rom-com chase scene, and the chill factor to lounge like a queen who’s waiting for her grapes to be peeled. Because Nyx has some anxiety, we are currently only considering applications that have a suitable canine companion in the home who could be a good dog-mentor for her. Questions About this Animal? Story
Current Location: Alexandria, VA Meet Dina: A Soft-Hearted Doodle Mix Ready to Bond Deeply with You Dina is a 3 year old, 60 pound doodle mix with a soft heart and an even softer desire to bond deeply with her person. Once she decides you're her human, she becomes a total Velcro dog, happy to follow you around, lean in for affection, and soak up every bit of love you offer. Smart and Well-Trained Dina is both crate trained and potty trained, and she already knows an impressive list of cues: sit, paw, crate, leave it, place, gentle, and wait. She's treat motivated, eager to learn, and already improving her leash manners. She's working on loose leash walking, recall, and polite doorway behavior, showing just how capable and willing she is to be the best companion she can be. Joyful Explorer Outdoors, Dina is a joyful explorer who loves zoomies, crunching icy snow chunks, and trotting around the yard, even when the ground is slippery. She's resilient, curious, and always ready for the next adventure. She's been appropriate with other dogs she's met and shows curiosity, but no reactivity, toward wildlife like birds and squirrels. Building Trust Dina can be cautious with new people. But with patience, calm energy, and a few tossed treats, she warms up beautifully, sometimes within minutes. Once she realizes someone is safe, she transforms into a snuggly, affectionate companion who paws gently for more pets. Watching her personality blossom is one of the most rewarding experiences you'll have. Best Home Fit This sweet girl thrives with structure, reassurance, and a person who understands that confidence takes time. In return, she'll offer unwavering loyalty, endless affection, and the joy of watching her grow into the confident, loving companion she's meant to be. If you're looking for a loving, devoted companion who just wants to feel safe and cherished, Dina may be your perfect match. Apply today!

Approximate Age: 2 years Approximate Weight: TBD Bug is a beautiful white poodle with a shy but sweet personality. She may be reserved at first, but once she feels safe, she’s goofy, affectionate, and loves being close (being carried is her preference 💕). • Good with dogs of all sizes • Cat friendly • Good with respectful kids • Working on leash confidence She loves dress-up, brushing, and being pampered. Story
We received this timid girl from a hoarding case where she received absolutely no human interaction. She is extremely shy and will take weeks-months to come around and trust you. She is not your typical companion. She needs a very patient home that will continue to work with her emotional needs. We believe she is a miniature poodle weighing around 25-30 pounds full grown. She has showed so much potential in her experienced foster home and continues to be a wonderful companion. Here is what her foster has to say …. Hi! My name is Sweetie Pie and Candy Girl. My foster is letting me pick my own name. I give quick looks of acknowledgement when either of those are used. I don’t trust people; I have really never been exposed to them. My ideal home would have at least a 6-foot fence (I got serious hops for my size). I would love to have another easy going K9! Size doesn’t matter my foster Nana has a miniature pinscher (10 yrs old), Doberman pinscher (8), Frenchie (2) and a demon cat (more about her later). My favorite is the Doberman she sleeps in the crate with me when I am not in my bed on the bed. I prefer to eat in my crate. If kept too long (like on church days) I might potty in my crate if fed before Nana goes to sit with the Jesus crew. Normally I will potty on the potty pads. I will go outside to potty, but because I have a hard time trusting I will hide! I am exceptionally great at hide and seek. I will look at you searching for me and not say a word! I don’t mind being in a crate but a gated room not so much. I will jump it or hurt myself trying to escape. I am as sweet as pie! I was never groomed but I let Nana shave all the mats off me and clip my toenails. When it is bath time you and I will be getting bathed at the same time….lol. Yep, I will cling to you. Now I have not a care in the world about cats, but demon cat does not care for me! If you have the time and patience, I am your candy girl! If you are retired or work from home, I will be your best friend. Oh, I love PJs! They are like a permanent hug! Foster Parents If you think Candy is the right fit for you, please submit an application https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/66b189c45d6f9afa2c07afb8/691e3b35f53831ce0808037c
