Story
Milkweed was found as a stray and is now ready to leave outdoor life behind for a cozy home of her own. This lovely girl is still getting used to shelter life, but she’s been taking everything one step at a time and would love a patient family to help her settle in. Like the wildflower she’s named after, Milkweed has a soft and gentle charm that makes you want to stop and admire her. Whether she’s lounging in a sunny window or quietly keeping you company, Milkweed is ready to start her next chapter with someone special. Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. This cat will be going home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for everyone to transition successfully. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available cats in the shelter. (Cats in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the cat first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a cat for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. Story
Stella is a gorgeous, fluffy, confident girl with lustrous and soft fur. she carries herself like a queen and seems to believe that she has noble blood. She is very friendly, cuddly, affectionate, and playful and loves to be queen of the castle. Seh gets along well with other cats and would probably be fine with a dog, as she is very confident and not intimidated by much. She would likely do well in just about any household.

Story
Jonsie is super happy that TJO does SNR! What’s that, you ask? Shelter Neuter Return! SNR differs from TNR because kitties can stay at the shelter for a while so staff can determine if they are truly feral or simply scared and unsure of people. When Jonsie arrived, he was dirty and looked defeated. Now he has cleaned himself up nicely and keeps his head held high. He welcomes pets and attention and has quickly decided that people are actually pretty great. Jonsie would much rather trade in the scary outdoor life for a safe, cozy home indoors. He has been learning to trust more each day and is ready to find a family of his own. With patience, love, and a comfy spot to nap, Jonsie is sure to blossom into a wonderful companion.OTHER PETS: We think Jonsie will be OK by himself or with a kitty friend or two.OWNER EXPERIENCE: Jonsie's adopter should have experience with kitties.KIDS: Jonsie is best suited for a quiet, adult only home.ACTIVITY LEVEL:Jonsie is currently a couch potato, we would not be surprise if he became more playful as he settles in.VETERINARY CARE: Jonsie is looking forward to meeting his new vet and receiving on-going vet care.LEVEL OF SOCIALIZATION: Jonsie's new family must be patient as he learns to trust again.GROOMING: Jonsie takes very good care of his handsome coat.May 25, 2026, 7:27 pm
