Story
Adorable and gentle Scottish Fold seeks hero adopter! Frostbite came to us from local animal control. Her past is somewhat of a mystery, but we know she had been living outdoors. The facility who had her in their care for several months said that she is easy-going, enjoys her cat tree, and has a calm, gentle presence. Frostbite will do best in a quiet, low-activity home with no young children. She may enjoy having another mellow, respectful feline companion. Her ideal person will engage with her through interactive play, quiet companionship, and gentle routines, without pressure or forced interaction. She will need to start out in her own room for several weeks to a month, until she begins showing signs that she wants to explore more of her home. Frostbite is a long-term project cat, and she is not for everyone. But for the right person, she offers something rare: the chance to be the one who shows her that the world can be kind, that people can be safe, and that home can mean comfort. Frostbite is looking for someone who can give her the peaceful life she deserves and who will find something truly special in helping her slowly bloom. If you would like to truly change the life of a special cat, call 413.781.4000 or email springfield@dakinhumane.org to see if you might be a good match. You can visit Frostbite at the Adoption Center Tues-Sat 12:30-3.

Story
Finley – The Fearless Foodie Finley may be missing his back right leg, but someone forgot to tell him — he zooms, climbs, and explores with the confidence of a four-legged adventurer. After a tough start in life, his resilience shines through in every playful pounce and curious wiggle. Affectionate on his own terms, Finley isn’t a fan of being scooped up and carried like a baby, but he’ll happily sit beside you for cuddles, pets, and snacks. And speaking of snacks… Finley LOVES to eat. Mealtime might just be his favorite time of day, and he approaches treats with great enthusiasm and zero hesitation. Besides his love for food and adventure, Finley thrives around other cats. Having a feline friend brings out his happiest, most confident self, which is why he’ll need a kitty companion in his forever home. Charming, spirited, and endlessly entertaining, Finley is proof that a missing leg doesn’t slow a determined kitten down — it just gives him more reasons to keep moving forward.

Story
Jackson Jr. is a very handsome medium hair gray tabby with white on his lower face, neck, belly and feet. He looks like he is wearing white boots and white gloves. His owner had to surrender him after having him for 3 years, so he is a little shy at first. You can pick him up and pet him but not for very long. Once he is in a home again, he will probably turn into a loving lap pet. He would be best as the only cat in a home with no children or dogs so he can get his owner's undivided love and attention. He has been neutered & is up to date on his vaccinations. All of our cats are fostered in Tennessee, but we transport to most states. This animal is being fostered in the South but transport to a location near you is included in your adoption fee. We use Rescue Riders Pet Transport, (www.rescueridersllc.net), the most animal-friendly transport on the road.

Story
Meet Charlie – Our Tailless, Fluffy Cuddlebug  Charlie is a 4–5 year old medium-haired black beauty with no tail and a big heart — and he's ready to steal yours!  He was rescued during a TNR project along with a whole crew of black cats — his three kittens (Hurricane Howie, Cyclone, and Typhoon), their mama, and even her older kitten from a previous litter. Yep, six gorgeous black cats all in one sweep — and Charlie was the proud (if slightly overwhelmed) dad! At first, Charlie was super shy — but his colony feeders insisted he had potential, and they were right. With time, love, and a safe space, he’s become a total lovebug. He’s currently in a foster home where he sleeps with one of the kids every night and soaks up all the attention he can get. This boy is seriously grateful to be indoors — soft beds, steady meals, and snuggles? He’s all in. During his vet check, Charlie tested slightly positive for FIV, and some of his kidney levels were a little off. We’re going to recheck everything before he’s officially ready to head to his forever home. FIV isn't a big deal and it's unfortunately talked about in a negative light and often due to misinformation. FIV impacts the immune system so you have to make sure any concerns are address quickly - just as every owner should do for all of their cats. FIV cats have the same life expectency as cats without FIV and they can co-exist! In the meantime — we’re accepting adoption applications! Charlie is sweet, gentle, and would make someone an incredibly loving companion. He deserves the coziest, happiest home after his time outside. Could it be with you? ##2465279##
