For the first week, your kitten should remain safely behind a closed door while pets become familiar with each other through scent and sound. After the first week, if everyone seems calm, you can begin short, supervised introductions using a baby gate so pets can safely see one another without direct contact. A proper introduction and full integration between a kitten and dog often takes 3–6 weeks (sometimes longer), depending on personalities. Go slow, supervise carefully, and always prioritize safety. Veterinary Care Most kittens will need to see a veterinarian within 14 days of adoption to continue their FVRCP vaccine series and to receive their rabies vaccine once they are old enough and big enough.
