He showed up in town over a year ago, plump, adorable, and happy. We assumed someone was taking care of him. Over the course of a year we saw him here and there getting thin and unhealthy, so we began feeding him on our porch. He wasn't doing well compared to other outdoor cats, so we took him in temporarily to get him healthy and find him a new home. We were unable to locate his former owners. We took him to the vet, got his shots up to date, tests done, and neutered. He is roughly 5-8 years old. He is FIV positive, but it's not a fatal thing. It's just an immune deficiency that's spread only through biting another cat. He was often near other cats eating on our porch and showed no aggression toward them, so other than him needing a little extra care when he gets ill, we don't forsee his condition being an issue for current cat owners. He's a good boy who is healing and needs a permanent home with someone who will love and care for him.

Moon came to us by way of a Good Samaritan who found him in need of help. He is sad at the shelter, it is overwhelming for him. He had severe matting when he arrived so we had to shave him. Moon spent some time in a foster home to get over a kitty cold. His foster mom adored having him, said he loves to play with wand toys, and once he got to know her, he was very affectionate. She also said how cute he was when he got the zoomies! Moon would do best in a quiet, calm household where someone can let him come out of his shell and be the good boy that he is! FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) affects a cat’s immune system, but many FIV-positive cats live long, healthy, normal lives with routine veterinary care and an indoor lifestyle. FIV is primarily spread through deep bite wounds, not through everyday activities like sharing food and water bowls, grooming, playing, or snuggling. Because of this, FIV-positive cats can often live safely with FIV-negative cats when everyone gets along and there is no serious fighting.
