Story
Mya (A135677) is a 1-year-11-month-old Sharpei x Rottweiler mix who weighed 66.5 pounds on intake! 03/12/26 Mya is back at the shelter due her adoptive owner finding that she did not seem comfortable in their home. They stated she did not want to eat while with them and appeared anxious (would chew on her nails). We had our shelter vet assess Mya on her return back to the shelter. We have found Mya to be a picky eater but does enjoy treats and has to be bribed with a little canned food to eat her meals. Mya was also described as being very headstrong while in their care. She was said to be housebroken and to know her basic commands. Mya was described as friendly when meeting children but can be a little shy around strangers until introductions are made. Her prior owner also said that she did well with others. We have found that she can be selective towards other female dogs while at the shelter. Please ensure you are making appropriate introductions with all new animals. If you are interested in meeting Mya, please let us know! 02/12/26 Mya was surrendered to the shelter because her owner did not have housing that could accommodate her, and her pet sitter was unable to continue tending to her. The sitter had been watching her for months and stated that she is a fabulous dog, but with their long work hours, they really did not have the time to fully commit to having a dog for the long run. She is a young girl is hoping to find a family to love her for the rest of her life! Mya has been struggling with potty training and is looking for a patient owner who can continue to work with her. We also encourage her next owner to bring her to a basic obedience class with a certified trainer to continue working on her manners and learn a trick or two! If you are interested in meeting Mya, please let us know! 10/09/24 Miss U’sa is back at the shelter and eager to find her right fit! U’sa was surrendered back to the shelter because her adoptive owners found that she had a high prey drive and they had cats in the home. She would do best in a home without small dogs, cats, or pocket pets to set her up for success! U’sa was said to do well with other dogs. However, appropriate introductions are key! She was also said to do well with people of all ages, including babies and children! She has been a sweet girl to the care staff at the shelter! In their home, she did excellent in a kennel and was noted to be housebroken! She also does great on car rides! If you are interested in meeting U’sa and have no small critters around, please let us know! 08/27/24 This sweet little lady is U’sa! U’sa was said to be 75% Sharpei and 25% Rottweiler. Add that together, and she is 100% wonderful! U’sa was described as a very sweet dog who does well with everyone, including babies and children! The shelter environment can be a bit scary, but she is being brave and conquering her fears! In her prior home, U’sa was said to be kennel trained, housebroken, and to ride well in a car. She was known to dig and get into the trash if left unsupervised. At 5 months old, we highly encourage her next owner to bring her to a basic obedience class with a certified trainer to continue working on her manners and for the added positive socialization. U’sa was said to do well with other animals including dogs, cats, pocket pets, and livestock. Please ensure you are making appropriate introductions with new animals. U’sa was seen by our shelter vet and had entropion surgery. She is doing great but does need to remain in her cone until fully healed. If you are interested in meeting U’sa, please let us know!April 4, 2026, 12:34 am

Story
Chani is a spirited, lovable girl born in the winter of 2019, and she’s been making people smile ever since. She’s an outdoors enthusiast at heart: nothing makes her happier than long, long, long walks in the woods where she can run free, sniff every new scent, and explore to her heart’s content. If you enjoy nature, she’ll be your perfect companion. When she’s not adventuring, Chani loves a good game of tug‑of‑war with her favorite human or zooming around a big yard with new dog friends. She gets along well with other dogs outside the home but needs to be the only pet at home.— she can be a bit protective of her toys and food, and she appreciates having her space respected. One of Chani’s most endearing quirks is her “talking.” She’s a vocal girl who isn’t shy about sharing her opinions. Her grumbles can sound a little like growls, but they’re really her way of saying, “I disagree,” or “I have thoughts about this.” Anyone who loves a dog with personality will adore her.
