Story
Meet Max! Max is a 3-year-old Shar Pei who weighs about 50 pounds, and this handsome guy is serving equal parts charm and adventure. With his happy-go-lucky personality and sweet nature, Max seems to make friends wherever he goes. He’s a friendly dude who always looks like he’s got an important mission on his schedule, even if that mission is simply inspecting every corner of the yard. Max loves time outside and takes his exploring duties very seriously. Every leaf rustle, squirrel rumor, and mysterious backyard scent deserves a proper investigation. When his adventures are complete, he’s happy to trade explorer mode for hanging out with his people and soaking up affection. Max will need a cat-free home. He’s reportedly done well with dogs, although he has not yet been dog tested in our care. If you’re looking for a sweet companion with a face full of wrinkles and a heart full of happy, Max may be your guy! His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
Tobler is a 5-year-old male shar pei mix who is available for adoption at CCHS! Tobler was found as a stray in Urbana. Tobler is an outgoing and wiggly boy who is friendly with people and loves going outside. He comes when called and has acted appropriately during dog-dog introductions. Come meet Tobler at CCHS! Tobler is a STAFF FAVORITE PET! Here's what Animal Care Staff Member, Tom, has to say about him: "Tobler is a wonderful, friendly, happy boy..... And he's big enough to make sure you know about all of it! Have you ever wondered what kind of dog will happily get his belly pet by five people at once? Wonder no more! It's Tobler! He is a big guy with a big bark, but he responds well to positive reinforcement (he will do nearly anything for half a milk bone) and gentleness (this "bulldozer" sure loves a belly rub and a scratch anywhere he can't reach) He loves people more than he loves dinner (which is a lot), and has many friends at the shelter. If you're willing to pet him, you've probably got a friend in Tobler In his kennel when he isn't using those big eyes to get extra walks, he likes to snooze, loaf like a cat, play with his toys, and devour his enrichment treats. On walks he loves to use that big nose to sniff all over the yard, although he might need a hand from someone with thumbs to help him keep focused and avoid sharing his opinions for other dogs with a "boof." Tobler is a big dog with a big bark and an even bigger heart. If that sounds like the dog for you, come meet him today!"

Story
Sugar is our NOMA Home Pros Underdog of the Month! Looking for a funny, sweet, and smart as a whip companion? Then Sugar is your girl. Sugar is a year old German Shepard/Shar-pei/Pit-bull mix, and she’s got the brains to back up the breed. She’s energetic, playful, curious, and always down for a cuddle. Sugar is a whiz at tricks, and knows sit, down, heel, roll-over, and spin already (if you have a treat to give)! She can be reactive, and does prefer to be your only friend, but she will absolutely make up for it with all the love she can give. Now, stop on by and give Sugar some sugar! Sugar is a STAFF FAVORITE pet! Here's what our Animal Care Staff, Cassie, has to say about her: "It's never a boring walk with Sugar. She's the most trainable and driven dog I've met, and she's both food and affection motivated. I've been really enjoying working with her, and she's gotten so much more confident here at the shelter. She's so cuddly and sweet, and yet perks up and locks in when it's time to train. She's very attentive and genuinely wants to give you her very best. And seriously, I say this with the upmost affection, but she looks like a bug. I can't look at photos of her without laughing. Her ears flop in different directions, and her tongue is always hanging out to the side. Despite the dopey appearance, she's so clever, and always finding a way to surprise me with how quick she figures things out. I truly love her dearly, and I want her to find a forever home that will do the same. If you want a friend who will make sure you never have a boring day, then come snatch Sugar up."
